Heavy rain forecast for most of Thailand

The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday (August 1) that a strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and Thailand while the tropical depression over the South China Sea will be moving through Hai Nan, China.

This will bring isolated heavy to very heavy rain to the North, the Northeast, the East, and the South regions.

People in risky areas should beware of the severe conditions and stay tuned in for weather updates. Wind waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are intensifying with waves 2-3 metres high in the Andaman Sea. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

North: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 25-27 degrees Celsius and highs of 32-38°C.

Northeast: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated very heavy rains; temperature lows of 25-27°C and highs of 28-35°C.

Central: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 25-26°C, highs of 34-37°C.

East: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 25-29°C, highs of 30-35°C; waves two metres high and over two metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Cloudy with thundershowers in 70 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves 1-2 metres high and over two metres during thundershowers.

A friend about 10 kms from me had four hours of heavy rain yesterday, and plenty the day before. I had no rain at all.

Opened up about 4 hours ago in Udon. Stopped just a little while ago. This inspired me to check the forecast.

It's windy like it's raining somewhere around me in Pattaya, but not a single drop right here. I think I live on some cursed native land or something.

Nong Khai:  1" yesterday, ~ 2" last night.

Been raining in Chiang Mai since just before noon today. No respite, just light grey cloud.

It looks like Loei is taking a bath,
