Probe finds deep flaws in ‘Boss’ investigation; police chief urges drugs, speeding charges

A police panel tasked probing the investigation of the 2012 hit-and-run case against Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya today (August 13) said the case was riddled with flaws from the beginning, while the national police chief ordered Vorayuth should be charged with drug use and speeding.

 

The panel had completed the probe within the 15-day framework allotted, said its head and advisor to the national police commissioner, Sattawat Hiranburana.

 

The probe cleared police over their move not to oppose the prosecutor’s decision to drop the final charge against Vorayuth since it was made according to information and evidence at the time, said Pol Lt-General Jaruwat Wisaya, Assistant Commissioner at the National Police Office and a panel member.

 

However, disciplinary committees will now investigate 11 suspended police officers for misconduct during the case, as per previous findings of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).

 

The alleged misconduct covers four issues: failing to test the suspect’s urine for drugs, failing to keep evidence from additional witnesses, misrepresenting the case report, and failing to issue an arrest warrant ordered by the prosecutor.

 

Thonglor police who investigated whether Vorayuth was speeding at the time of the fatal incident also face punishment over 10 flaws found in their case.

 

These are:

1. Not investigating the police who searched the accused's house on the day of the incident.

2. Failing to administer an alcohol test immediately after the crash, meaning evidence was missing.

3. Not taking testimony from the suspect of the location and timeline of events, which may be pertinent to the drunk driving case.

4. Allowing the accused to go free on bail instead of sending him to court for immediate detention.

5. Failing to charge the accused with speeding.

6. Failing to consider drugs and reckless driving charges after a drugs test on the accused came back positive for cocaine.

7. Failing to follow the law in granting bail for the accused.

8. Inquiry officer failed to request extension of the investigation according to police order No 960/37 when the investigation expired.

9. Evidence the investigation team failed to follow hierarchy protocol after receiving the prosecutor's case and failed to send the accused to court after the six-month period of investigation.

10. Superintendent of Thonglor police, as chief investigative officer, did not supervise investigation closely despite significant public interest in case.

 

Meanwhile national police chief Gen Pol Chakthip Chaijinda today ordered that Vorayuth should be charged with speeding and drug use as soon as possible as per new evidence.

Well, well, well, what do we have here.  Is this the bomb that will sink "Boss" Red Bull, as well as all of those who were on the take and received there brown envelopes.  When there are to many fingers in the pot then there are sure to be screw-ups and evidence of malfeasance to be found.  I will bet that all those involved were pre-warned before this ticking time bomb hit the news and are scurrying for a deep dark hole to hide in.  

 

A proper investigation needs to be done on all cases, no matter if they are willing to bribe someone.  Prosecute the dookie out of them and then let them pay there fines and bribes to stay out of jail.  RTP do your stinking  job the right way.

 

I can only hope that what truly needs to be done is done, but then actions speak louder than words as this is Thailand.  I guess when it also hit the news wires in the US and the rest of the world the pressure became to great.  CNN did a good piece, and I can not stand the Communist News Network.

A 2 millimeter probe is all that's needed for this case ????

I bet they were very closely supervising the case, probably even steering every detail of the investigation.

 

So he gets fined for drug use and a bit if speeding. 

Thats it, all finushed and he is free. How about all the other charges ?

with all the "new" findings they only charge him with speeding and drug use, No homicide ? No drug dealing? so then founded flaws don't account for anything, too much of the same same

Leaving an accident scene without identifying urself including and Leaving behind an helpless victim on the road is that legal here ?

There are a lot of things that annoy me with this case, one that stands out for me is the fact that all these snakes were his buddies his work mates his colleagues, probably went for a beer after work went to his wedding and all that sort of <deleted> it's like they have thrown him in the gutter without one ounce of respect for him or his family.

One thing for sure I wouldn't like to be in the trenches with any of these slime bags

Unless they actually find those where bribed, nobody is going to believe any of these fake probes. 

 

Every Thai knows what happened. These white washing attempts are making it worse.

Yes, shows what the RTP really is, the RTP should be dismantled and step 1 all senior officer detained so that they cannot influence anything whilst a team of ethical army officers temporarily take over the senior jobs. Plus a complete redevelopment of police training and those involved previously (in developing and delivering training) sacked. Plus recruitment of police taken over by an outside agency with every step of all recruitment available for public scrutiny. 

a deal has been done to charge him only with lesser offences, probably none of them extraditable. Even if he is charged when/if arrested, does anyone think he will get a "fair"trial? Just more people will be sharing the bounty.
