Red Bull Boss latest: Thai immigration tight-lipped about former RTP chief's claim of being abroad

Thai immigration said yesterday that they were unable to give details about claims made by former Royal Thai police chief and current president of the Thai Football association Pol Gen Somyot Poompannmoung.

General Somyout has claimed that he was abroad in Switzerland on sporting related business when investigators were looking into the speed of the Ferrari driven by Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya.

Boss - the heir of the Red Bull drinks empire - is at the center of a major case and subsequent scandal after the death of a senior Thong Lo policeman in September 2012.

Pol Maj-Gen Chuchat Thareechat, an immigration deputy, told reporters yesterday following a briefing on other matters that the IB has information about Somyot's movements.

But Maj-Gen Chuchat said he is unable to confirm or deny what has been said because it is a private matter.

Only when an official request is received can the IB information be made public.

Thaivisa notes that currently there is an ongoing probe into the actions of the RTP in this high profile case.

It has been suggested that at least 20 people including several policemen were involved in underhand activities in connection with the case.

Somyot was commissioner-general of the RTP from October 2014 to September 2015.

Switzerland?  Is that where the Swiss banks are?

Could it be that some "brown envelopes" might/have actually become toxic?

Is that the infamous former police boss billionaire who turned the Koh Tao case away from looking for the real killers to scapegoats and who organized  a big show to whitewash somebody who was very likely involved in the gruesome murder?

"The truth!  You can't handle the truth!"  Someone once said in a movie.  But the reality is we can handle the truth...if it is ever allowed to emerge.  ????

Yes, and as they keep on everyone is going to get so tired that they lose interest out of the lack of comprehension.

That´s how they always deal with things. They give misleading information in all possible direction, just for the reson to confuse until people have no possibility to get the slightest grip of want´s going on.

Actually a very clever procedure to uphold the faulty and corrupted system.

Com'on guys, give the man a break, can't an ex police general visit in Switzerland for it's fine Cheese and chocolates and clean fresh Alps air?  any other activities are just ugly rumours...

At the time mentioned, when he visited Switzerland, he was not an ex police general. As I understand it he was the acting chief of the RTP. Everybody knows that an acting police chief do not eat cheese nor chocolate.

The same guy who is a multi millionaire, and the same guy who borrowed 300 Million Baht from a scaly soapy massage operator who set-up / owned a giant soapy massage venue in Bkk for about 20 years, never touched by the law.

Thai billionaire tries to bribe his way out of trouble.  More commonplace than 10 Baht tuk tuk tours of the city, autocratic rule, and high road fatalities.

If Somyout was in Switzerland on sporting related business then I am sure it can be verified by the sports body in Switzerland
