Two female rescue officers prevented a 57-year-old man from committing suicide on Chalatat Beach in Songkhla province.

The incident took place on Sunday (August 23) when Decha Wiphatawaitaya, a resident of Songkhla province, decided to commit suicide by drowning in the sea.

A visitor to the beach, realising his condition, tried to calm him down. But Decha insisted on going ahead with his decision to give up his life and ran towards the sea. The two female rescue officers rushed in time and stopped him.

They spent an hour dissuading him before he changed his mind. The officers later contacted his family to take him home.

Local vendors said that he came to buy beer, left his wallet and phone and started walking towards the sea. It was later revealed that he was stressed due to debt and depression.
