Kanye West accused of “disrespecting Islam” with name of new Yeezy Boosts

Kanye West has been accused of “disrespecting Islam” with the names of his new Yeezy Boost sneakers.

 

Adidas unveiled the new line of shoes earlier this week: the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Israfil and Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Asriel, which are named after the Islamic angels of music (Israfil) and death (Asriel).

 

Israfil is one of four archangels in Islam. He is usually depicted with a horn, which he will blow on Qiyamah – or the day of judgement.

 

Asriel is Islam’s archangel of death and is said to transport the souls of the deceased after they have passed on.

Sorry to say and i don't mean to offend nobody but this whole discrimination thing should be banned from being used by people to get what they want . The while word should be resolved from the dictionary . Discrimination happens in every culture and between blacks whites yellows browns among eachother and not to talk about fat thin ugly beautifull glasses whatever t it's all so called discrimination and everybody uses it to pity themselfs just let it go and move on . Again don't mean to offend nobody but that's my opinion . Blacks calling eachother the N word but when a white says it it's discrimination ??????? They call white people white trash but was there ever any demonstrations or plunderings or white lives matter or whatever and it's happening to asian people for decades , do you hear anything about that . Stop crying and move on and if nobody makes a PROBLEM of it , it will never be a PROBLEM .

People also conflate a dislike for a particular culture, or aspects of it, with racism. The two are different. I dislike many aspects of Korean and Japanese society and the way people behave and talk. But that's not racism. Racism is visceral, meaning the mere sight of their features and skin makes you hate them. I was married to a Chinese for 15 years, so obviously I don't care about features--in fact, Chinese or Japanese eyes are beautiful in a woman. A lot of undergraduates in the U.S. have this idea that the movie "Lost in Translation" is somehow "racist" just because it shows some silly elements of Japanese society. It also shows some lovely things about it. It's nothing to do with racism.

Where were you when the Christians invaded Muslim lands and raped Muslim women. Very amusing, the first crusade in 1095 was only called to free Jerusalem up for pilgrims being harassed by Muslims, after 300 years of Muslim armies taking over christian lands. There were 5 great centers of Christianity, Rome, Alexandria, Antioch, Constantinople and Jerusalem. Over the centuries Islamic armies invaded them all except Rome, but they did try that as well. Don't come the Muslim victim nonsense, they were responsible for 100's of conflicts and engaged in constant war and expansion. If not for the Poles destroying the Ottoman army when they were besieging Vienna in 1683, Sept 11/12 Europe would have been over run by Muslims. Note the date, they never forget a defeat, and they never seem to learn from them, you only have to look at Islamic armies attacking Israel over the past 70 years to see that.

The Islamic faith is 1400 years old, not ancient, and certainly not respectable.
