Spleen

Featured Replies

Good afternoon,

Is an enlarged spleen directly linked to moderate dring. ie 2-3 large leos a day

Many thanks

Every human is individual but 2-3 beer give me only need to go toilet. If i know im not doing nothing exersise next day i drink much more! 6-12 only for thirst. Should go doctor if some wrong your body!

Splenic enlargement has many causes - ingestion of excess alcohol being one.

Only blood tests +/- an ultrasound exam can identify the actual cause

Thanks for the above guys. Im going to UbonRak on Friday, just wanted to get the view from Forumites having had differing opinions whether its alcohol related or not. No Cirrohis present after recent ultrasound; just an enlarged spleen c/w low Platelet and WBC counts.

Thanks anyhow

Moved to the health forum.

While a spleen can be enlarged secondary to cirrhosis or other liver disease, which in turn can be related to excess alcohol consumption, in that instance the liver would also shwo pathology.

As you say liver was normal and seem to mention an abnormal blood ocunt the cause is likely something else. Suggest you consult a hematologist.
