BRAVE PATTAYA GIRL CHASED BAG-SNATCHERS DRIVING THEM OFF THE ROAD

Two robbers, suffering from Yah Bah withdrawal symptoms, snatched the bag of a Thai woman, who gave chase, despite being warned that they would shoot her. However, not seeing any weapon, she disregarded their threat and pursued them, regardless, eventually crashing her motorbike into theirs. Shaken by the crash, the robbers were in no fit state to resist when neighbours came to render assistance to the brave female motorcyclist.

At 1.30 pm, on 25th April 2007, the Pattaya Constabulary, in the persons of Pol.Maj. Chaikrit Thong-In and his team, responding to an emergency call, went to Soi Nok-Khao on Pattaya Central Road to investigate.

There they found two motorcycles, a black Honda Click and a red Honda Wave, which had been involved in a crash. The three people involved in the crash, included the bag-snatch victim, Miss Namfon Go-Heng (22) and the two robbers, Mr. Arthaphol Wanthongkam (23) and Mr. Arnat Pharakul (19). Miss Namfon, who had injuries to her face and body, was given first aid by a police officer and was subsequently taken to Banglamung Hospital.

The robbers, Mr. Arthaphol Wanthongkam from Sattahip and Mr. Arnat Pharakul from Nongkai, had both suffered minor injuries in the crash and confessed to having snatched Miss Namfon’s bag in order to get money to buy Yah Bah.

The police questioning Miss Namfon, later, ascertained that she had been riding her motorbike, passing through Soi Nok-Khao, on her way home to Soi Khao Noi, when she had had her bag snatched by the robbers. The robbers threatened to shoot her if she attempted to follow them, but not seeing a gun and reluctant to loose her belongings - money and mobile phone – she decided give chase.

Catching them up on a bend, she increased her speed so as to crash into the robbers’ motorbike and effectively drove them off the road. Good Samaritan villagers emerged from their houses and the ensemble managed to subdue the robbers until the police came. Miss Namfon bemoaned the fact that similar crimes are commonplace, but thanked her lucky stars to have escaped with her life.
