Robert Downey Jr has confirmed he won't be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The star was asked about any upcoming plans within the MCU while on the SmartLess podcast, to which he announced he was finished with Tony Stark and Iron Man.

Speaking to the 55-year-old about his work/life balance, host Jason Bateman asked: "I'm assuming that the Marvel thing is at a slower speed now... or you're done with that now?"

To which Downey Jr replied: "That's all done."

If put 200 million $ on table and ask again! Think he chance hes mind!

Probably less than a tenth of that actually. Look at Daniel Craig. After he did the Bond film Spectre he publicly stated he'd rather slit his wrists than do another Bond film.

And 5 years later, his 5th Bond movie - No Time To Die - is set to be released and no sign of him having slit his wrists at all !

Hugh Jackman is done with Wolverine as well (despite Ryan Reynolds attempts to coax him back) but he may still be open to reprising the role for cameos or flashbacks. If the money's right of course.

And in the Marvel Universe, there are so many "alternate" timelines and dimensions and storylines that have dead characters coming back over and over again, none ever really seem to "die" permanently anyways.

In the scheme of world events, this is fluff and humankind most likely will go on, with or without actors and actresses.

Who isn't done with Marvel pictures. I look forward to the return of movies written for adults, that don't depend completely on CGI and sound bites.

I think that role has been taken over by television now, in particular the mass of material being produced for the growing number of streaming services.

The recent "golden age" of TV (Breaking Bad, Rectify, Mad Men, Fargo, The Wire etc) set the bar and, now, any serious production has to put real effort into the writing.

In my opinion, there is more good stuff to watch now than ever, more than anyone could reasonably have time to watch, and I'm no longer so interested in movies.
