Can foreigners carry big knife like Thai?

If a farang is worried enough to carry a weapon,

1st, I would say, might as well carry a more useful one than a knife. Most of us slow, weak and inflexible blokes will not come out well from an encounter with a much younger, fitter Thai trying to gravely harm us.

2nd, know that if you ever do injure or kill a Thai, your life in Thailand will be done. So, you'd better have a air ticket ready as well.

That's how it goes here.

I carry an 18 inch blade when I am on the farm which gets sharpened every week.

Carry or think about bringing to Bangkok,,,,,, never

Your swiss army knife can be carried in your check in baggage.

If you are one of these selfish people who insist on lugging  your suitcase on board, Tough

No, but under current rules for security checks prior to flight boarding my Swiss Army knife would be confiscated.

Some years back when it was still OK to carry on a small pocket knife, I changed planes in Narita airport.  Even in the air-side terminal, we had to go through security.  They wouldn't let me take the knife.  I explained that it was a very nice knife, Japanese-made in Seki.  So they managed to box it up and had it sent on to Thailand.  It was waiting for me at the luggage area when I arrived.  Nice customer service.
