Honda Aircons.

Featured Replies

Have 2 friends both have Honda cars. They seem to work well without any problems. Except 1 they have both had problems with their Aircons. One has had to have his A/C fixed twice. Only a small problem each time but a problem all the same.

The other one has had 2 new Hondas the first Honda had to have his rear wheel bearings replaced at 6 years old and had to have it's A/C sorted. That time it was a small problem cost 3000bht. Yesterday on the way to my place his new less than 5 year old one A/C went T/T's up. This time it was a big job had to replace around 70% of it, cost for that 8,500bht. Gets it back today.

Just wondering if any other Honda owners have had A/C problems. Or have both of them just been unlucky.

Only owned a CR-V between 2009 and 2014 and the aircon went out about half-way through the ownership. I suspected the compressor and the aircon shop on south Sukhumvit out by Makro confirmed it so I gave the go ahead for the ~8000 baht compressor replacement. When I went back to collect it in the afternoon, he had separated the working compressor from the seized clutch and just replaced the latter. Was about 2800 baht including labour. Gave him a 200 baht tip for saving me 5k.

The only other replacements before we sold it was a clattering front suspension due to worn bushes and arms. IIRC, that was ~4000 baht to fix at a Honda specialist just outside Naklua using OEM parts.

Update on my OP.

This is one of the things that they had to replace, couldn't repair it as had to many leaks. Also a new air filter. Oh and his model is a Honda Civic. And 4 not 5 years old. They had also reduced the price to 8000bht INC: from 8.500bht. Looks pretty grubby to me.

I have the use of a 2009 Civic and I think 2007 Jazz, no A/C probs.

Only probs these cars had were shox all round on the Civic, and a clutch pedal spring on the Jazz.

A/C system/condensers operate under pressure, a hole in it that the human eye cannot see will empty the system in no time, it often may look worse than it is because of oil spray, the gas has oil mixed with it to lube stuff, so if you see what looks like just dirt, it is probably the oil that has got dust stuck to it.

A/C repair shops have a gadget that smells the gas leak as it is sometimes not visible/detectable to the human eye..

Looks like the AC system has never seen a service.
