Does the weather cause stupidity?

I've been wondering, (after a few tall ones) that the common sense shown in western countries seems in stark contrast to the extreme stupidity shown in the general population of so-called "developing nations".

 

Could it be because, in these poorer countries, one does not need to do anything to survive, they could even sleep in the open, and not worry about dying, but, in the countries where there is a huge amount of self-respect, and coordination, and general rule of law, you could very easily die if you did not worry about things like keeping warm when it is freezing outside, and a large part of your life is about keeping alive, against the harsh (winter) weather?

 

I mean, if we did not work together in the west to stay alive, then we would perish, whereas here, you do not need to work at all, just eat off the land and sleep where you want, and not worry about any type of coordination to keep the population (and yourself) alive?
