Most of Thailand remains in the grip of a rainy spell

Continuous rainfall and isolated heavy rains are likely in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East and the upper South, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Sunday.

 

 

People living in the risky areas should beware of severe rains that may cause flash floods and water runoffs, the department said.

 

A monsoon trough lies across the lower North, the upper Central and the Northeast with a low pressure cell in the Gulf of Tonkin, while a strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.

 

Strong wind waves are likely in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. In the upper portion of the Andaman Sea waves 2-4 metres high are forecast and more than four metres high during thundershowers. In the upper portion of the Gulf of Thailand, waves 2-3 metres are likely and above three metres high during thundershowers. Ships have been advised caution, while small boats must stay ashore, the department said.

 

The forecast for different parts of the country:

 

North: Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rains in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai and Tak provinces; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 29-32°C; southwesterly winds 10-30kph

 

 

Northeast: Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers; isolated heavy rains in Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces; minimum temperature 22-24°C, maximum 28-32°C; easterly winds 10-30kph.

 

Central: Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Uthai Thani, Chainat and Nakhon Sawan provinces; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 28-32°C; southwesterly winds 10-25kph.

 

East: Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat provinces; minimum temperature 23-27°C, maximum 29-34°C; southwesterly winds 20-40kph; waves 2-3 metres high and above three metres during thundershowers.

 

South (east coast): Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon provinces; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 30-34°C.

 

From Surat Thani northwards: southwesterly winds 20-35kph; waves about two metres high and more than three metres high in thundershower areas.

 

From Nakhon Si Thammarat southward: Southwesterly winds 15-35kph; waves 1-2 metres high and over two metres high in thundershower areas.

 

South (west coast): Very cloudy with fairly widespread rain and thundershowers; isolated heavy rains in Ranong, Phang-Nga and Phuket provinces; minimum temperature 24-25°C, maximum 28-32°C.

 

From Phuket northward: Southwesterly winds at 20-45kph; waves 2-4 metres high and above 4 metres during thundershowers.

 

From Krabi southward: Southwesterly winds at 20-35kph; waves about two metres high and above two metres in thundershower areas.

 

Bangkok and nearby areas: Very cloudy with fairly widespread rain and thundershowers; minimum temperature 25-26°C, maximum 30-32°C; southwesterly winds 10-25kph.

Chiang Mai and Tak are not really in the north but that is ok , looking outside and I see doom and gloom , been raining all night and still is .

Plenty of cloud here in northern BKK, solar is barely making it to 30% of rated power ???? 

 

Just enough spotty rain to "prevent" me from working in the garden ????
