A lot of the hardcore bashers here are OS however they do Sucker in posters who clearly live here. These fools join the party with scathing attacks on government thinking they are not traceable.

Penalty will be jail and then blacklist forever. I wonder how the warriors that laid down roots here will handle that?

Thats why I always use a pseudonym and a VPN to post reviews on TripAdvisor or TVF.

  • For goodness sake. Taking outside alcohol into a restaurant anywhere in the world is a no no unless you ask for permission.

I disagree. If the guy has a genuine issue then he has the right to publish it on all media outlets and sites to tell others of his issue. After all not everybody will go to all the sites of every hotel to find his review and therefore get a false impression.

The only issue the hotel can possibly take up is having him post multiple reviews about the same hotel under different names on the same sites. That I would agree with as being defamtion. Otherwise they are fair game in my opinion to a review of the person feeling aggrieved on all review sites.

Your viewpoint is he could only complain on the BBC rather than ITV, Channel 4, 5 ABC, FOX - which is inappropriate in my opinion

Trip Advisor should have been enough and maybe FB, but if he was so bent out of shape because he couldn't take his own beer into a restaurant without incurring a big charge, then he is naive at best and clearly has an anger management problem.  He was at least a fool and may come to deeply regret his over reaction.

Yes I wonder if the DUP could charge donnacha (spelling?) for his comments on Shankill Rd people.

I'm wondering if he's the same guy I see wandering round Pattaya with a "Free Bobby Sands" tattoo on his back?

Absolute cluster**** of a situation.

Ultimately doesn't end well for either party.

Demanding farang who went on an online rant about a resort,

and got arrested for it.

Especially doesn't look good for the resort -

high likelihood that potential customers will now be scared away,

fearing reprisals for raising any complaints

Not for raising a complaint, for going ballistic with it.

BS

pleasenot exaggeration.

You read trip advisor. Thousands of negative review. Not arrested.

Immature guys can not control behavior/mood. Frial. The USA guy sound racism. Mention chekslovakia many time.

It's difficult to arrest Foreign Tourists when they go back to their own country but they know all tourists must be in Thailand at the moment because of COVID.
We don't how many defamation cases the Hotel has filed this one only came to light because of a Blogger on Twitter.
But in any case if it's against the Law in Thailand to give a negative review which it appears to be then reviews should be blocked.

No such country/nationality. There's the Czech Republic and Slovakia. 2 separate countries.

Sound like annoying. Deport, not need death sentence.

The winner is.......

lawyers.

idiots.

Don't exaggerate First he left a review on TripAdvisor which the resort had removed so he then left 2 reviews not on Google that's not really continuing for a month total 3 reviews one removed.

I know this resort and the family who own it are not the humble small business people they say. They are extremely well connected.

No where else would the hotel be able to lay charges on someone for a negative review. instead, the hotel has the right to reply and give their version of events. There are also channels to have reviews removed.

However the guys review does seem over the top and vindictive. Certainly not what Thai tourism needs at the moment.

Well it seems TripAdvisor temporarily blocked reviews for this Resort
I wonder if they will continue to support Hotels that file Criminal Defamation law suits against customers for negative reviews?

That's true where the Yanks told the Brits where they could stick their manners us Ar$ Enders (refere to Keating's description) chose servitude which is quite pathetic really.

This is not going to end well for both parties as for the hotel they have not thought this one out properly they could now do themselves as much damage, I have not checked to see if they are on other OTA's the industry experts say most people use google to search for hotels, people dont have to be going on to Tripadvisor to see the bad reviews.

There are some simple steps to follow as far as any hotel is concerned something I learn't years ago, Do not respond to a bad review immediately as some knee jerk reaction think about it for a couple of days sit down, calm down and write a positive reply, if your first reaction is to fire off straight away once you have posted it, it cannot be changed.

These OTA's are multi million $$$$ companies they know what they are doing, some how or other the bad reviews end up getting lost I have been on the end of some bad reviews where they never show up after a while, even they dont want bad reviews coming up on the first page.

Neither is having him arrested and subjected to criminal charges.

They will have to think about it, the knock on effect would be no guest would book through them

To be fair both the US and Thailand think they own the world which has been amply demonstrated in the OP.

It is the way things are done here to save FACE that still amaze me.  Rather then this being a civil case against the gentleman it is now a Government case.  There were two ladies from the US who were arrested and imprisoned for using counterfeit money which they had been given as change a few years ago. However, if you murder someone, run someone over and your Thai, you walk away it seems.  Double pricing, and double standards done to protect the reputation of the country instead seem to me to look quite petty at times and shows how far they still need to go.

Yep..... in that great democracy, the melting cr8p  pot of the world,  where all men are created equal,

the elites are treated just like every common man         hahahahhahaha

Oh,  poor J epstein and his buddies had a great time for 30 years .   OOPS,  somehow I think he slipped

up and met some first world justice.    Knock knock........

Amazes me how many believe things work differently in our holier than thou "democracies"  .     High IQ's and all......... but ohhhh   so naive

What's the problem with some of you people? 13 pages of imagined slights.  Read what this guy wrote. Look at the timeline.  The restaurant tried multiple times to  deal with the  guy and he hid like a coward. He made multiple unsubstantiated claims. The restaurant doesn't have to take this kind of malicious abuse. The man's a bully who got a taste of  some bully cure.

Only in Thailand could this happen. No cease and desist orders necessary or blocking him and having the posts removed.  Not like tbe rest of the world.

They tried to have the posts removed. They tried to contact him.  He ignored them. He didn't expect that he would be held accountable.  You are applying your US laws to this bully. He wasn't in the USA. In Thailand you are subject to Thai law.

Well, this is going to really help kick off the rapid return of tourists to Thailand.

With your  business acumen, you must be a stellar success.

There are hundreds of negative reviews on trip adviser and google about jetskis, hotels and other bonafide rip offs and yet thousands still flock to rent the jetskis and parasail etc.

As others have said, the resort owner has made things much worse. Instead of letting one bad review die a death, he's made the bad review front page news. Knowing that I may be prosecuted for leaving a bad review of this resort, I would avoid it like the plague.

I'm sure he's not the only one leaving bad reviews on Tripadvisor, I also have done so on certain hotels with honest opinions.

But one can't cook up stories because there are two different versions of the story in his case.  And also why keep on posting bad reviews when one is enough?

Having the fella imprisoned is not a good advert for the hotel or it’s owners I certainly wouldn’t stay there knowing what happened and let’s face it 6,000 baht per night is pretty expensive during this pandemic

  • Popular Post

Did anyone defending this guy even bother to read both sides of the story?  Even his alone is quite damning.  First they walk in wanting a room and are informed that booking online would be cheaper, but insist on paying the full rate.  Then drinking from a bottle of gin on the beach before demanding to be allowed to drink more of it in the hotel restaurant and throwing a fit when told of the corkage fee - which he admits was waived after he caused the fuss, so they didn't even pay it.  Finally, accusing the hotel of "modern slavery" is a serious allegation, and one which would get people in trouble in many countries around the world, not just Thailand.  I also wonder why he chose to continue his rant on online review sites, when he couldn't be bothered booking the room online in the first case?  Sounds like one pathetic individual.
