Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has urged the United Nations to play a leading role in ensuring that all countries get equal access to COVID-19 vaccines, if and when they become available.

In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, via tele-conference on Saturday (Friday afternoon New York time), Thailand’s Prime Minister said that all countries must have belief in multi-lateral cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, as he offered moral support to all countries for their efforts to contain the pandemic.

As far as Thailand is concerned, the Prime Minister said that his administration set up the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), to cope with the pandemic in the country, in compliance with the guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Health Regulations of 2005.

Whatever happened to that cancer fighting mango?

The true science of this virus has not been tabulated yet.  All a vaccine will do is make governments and insurance companies feel better about travel and reopening borders.  The average person should focus on their immune system and not rely on government and big pharma.

Let us Non O retirees in!

I agree.

Unfortunately for me (USA) passport holder and historical long time Thailand worker and visitor I’ve given up on LOS for common sense entry, and booked my winter in the Caribbean.

Maybe next winter Thailand....but Im losing interest!

Guess if cooperation was there to start with, vis a vis China, this would be a moot point. Thanks again CCP for completly ...... (ends with up) the world. Special shout out to the WHO. Fantastic job.

The good news is that some vaccines will probably complete their rushed clinical trials in the next few months and become available

The bad news is that those trials will not have been as rigorous as is normally demanded.

Worse is that given the track record of past attempts to make vaccines for corona type viruses, it is likely that any vaccine will afford very little protection, and may be very short lived.

But.. as a global placebo to restore confidence in a return to normal, it might just be very useful..

May I add that while the flu has been around for decades, there still is no such thing as THE flue vaccine......

Every year again, virologists make a mix of 3 or 4 flu vaccins, and they hope that one in that mix is the right one. And with the mutating corona virus, what are the chances we will have the correct vaccine?
