Caddie injured by Italian golfer in Chiang Mai claims she only got 5,000 baht compensation

Featured Replies

The first thing omitted is the fact that the course was closed during C19 lockdown and then again after a change in management subsequent to this incident, so she would NOT have earned 480 baht per day as implied for the months the course was closed. I've spoken to caddies at other courses in CM and have been able to ascertain from them which course this occurred at. Also the caddies I've spoken to at the other courses ALL agree the caddy is 100% at fault and that the Italian golfer should not have to pay her anything. They also believe that she is trying to scam the golfer as her first and only demand has been for 500k baht which coincidentally is the maximum third party liability payout amount on the personal golf insurance policies that golfers can take out. They also believe that she is over exaggerating the extent of her injuries. The police can't and won't do anything as it was an accident.

Should have paid nothing. He did not assault her and the club should have had insurance

  • The club should have insurance for this kind of accident. If should be provided as part of your green fees.

  • I feel sorry for her but may I ask why she was standing in front of the golfer ?

True it seems she was in the wrong place and bad luck but regardless of liability what has happened to common human decency? I feel that the Italian could have offered more satisfactory compensation, somewhat more than the paltry sum of 5,000 Baht.

Yes he could've, But then he would admit Guilt.

That would've changed the situation Because It wasn't His Fault.
