Prayut applauds BMTA for producing locally made electric buses

 

 

Anucha Buraphachaisri, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was very pleased with the prototype electric buses he and other members of the Cabinet were given the chance to try out on Tuesday morning.

 

The BMTA is ready to add e-buses to its city transit system. The buses were developed in a collaboration between the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Ministry, the

National Science and Technology Development Agency, Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Provincial Electricity Authority, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority and private firms Phanthong Machinery, Choknumchai-Hitech Placing, Electric Vehicle and Sabai Motor (Thailand).

 

The electric buses are 12 metres long and can go up to 90 kilometres per hour.

 

Prayut commended BMTA for supporting the local supply chain system by developing electric buses that use domestically made parts. He also said the government will provide funds if the BMTA wants to develop a fleet of electric public buses.

 

Prayut said the development of these buses proves that his government is committed to pushing the country forward with the use of technology and innovation.

cha cha is late to the party as usual.  It should have happened years ago.  Are there tariffs on batteries and motors from China?  If so, why?   If he really wanted to move Thailand forward, now would be the time to drop these tariffs.  Entertaining how he blatantly took credit for other's work.

Way too fast for public transport they should be governed down, we all know why .............LOL

Excellent recommendation and comments by PM Gen Khun Prayut Chan O Cha. Buy local, create jobs and get Thailand back up and running. 

I have always said the Khun Prayut is committed to the development of infrastructure and technical innovation, and these buses are just one example. 

At least they won't be racing down Sukhumvit beltching out diesel.  I hope they are automatic and governed as such that the driver cannot throttle soft and hard as they do with the old buses, no wonder they are all mechanically stuffed ...

Yes, after BMTA under Prayut's leadership ordered and placed in service 489x2 NGV buses by Bestlin from China in public competitive bids (TOR), best to provide more sole source private purchases of electric buses from local Thai sources. Better than to again suffer defeat by court rulings by reneging on such foreign purchases after the fact in favor of local suppliers.

Less problems of disclosures and accountability.

Note that Bestlin sells electric buses worldwide, ie., USA, and known for reliability and value.

At least 'Cha Cha' showed up at the party, previous governments didn't even attend, electric buses have been around for years. A step in the right direction and all you do is moan.

If they are not auto somebody needs to be sectioned.

Anyone own anything made in Thailand that has not fallen apart, bended or broken in 6 months ? These buses are doomed to failure and the scrap yard

I've got half a dozen WD and Seagate hard drives, a Nikon camera and several lenses that have been around for between 3 and 10 years.
