Trump, positive for COVID-19, says won't participate in virtual debate

Astounding example of a TVF CJ in this thread. It deserves some kind of award-of-the-year or the century or even the millennium. :stoner:

The moderator is there for a reason, to keep things orderly and fair. Playing by the rules though is not acceptable to him? Well that's hardly news, but it does show that he has to feel he is able to

  • Come on Mr Trump, don't run away. Stay positive.

DT would cheat in a virtual debate.  There is no reason to believe otherwise.

Lots of people knew, but more do know.

This election is a referendum on his performance in his first term.

His performance is that he's the worst president in American history.

Yes, he's going to lose, but he will still be difficult to evict.

Last time was very different, he's an incumbent now....it's proven to be hard to beat a sitting president in any election.

If Trump loses I would put money on him quitting well before inauguration for various reasons, especially legal reasons and who can pardon who, think about that a little....

Pence can't pardon him for state crimes. His motivation to stay in power is what you suggest. To stay out of prison and promote his finances. He has no interest whatsoever in helping the American people. It's well documented that he ran the first time to promote his BRAND and never expected to actually win. He's a total disgrace and it's also obvious that he's heavily compromised by both Russia and Turkey. The enemy of the people is not the press. It's him.

I am well aware. All Americans should feel deep shame about that human stain being in power, whether they supported him or not. It's going to take a very long time to repair the massive damage he has done.

Yes, normally.

But there is nothing about the current president or the situation in the U.S. that is normal now.

He's going to lose. You can take that to the bank. But again, he may still stay in power.

If that happens, the American experiment in democracy is finished.

I still think he will win, we will see in just a few weeks.

Fine. But we're both on record. But the definition of winning is actually winning. Not declaring victory on election night to suppress counting mail in votes, getting republican state legislatures to vote contrary to their people, etc. So staying in power and losing is not winning. I'm not predicting he will leave office. I'm predicting he is going to lose based on the votes, nationally and state, but may still in a fascist manner stay in power.

Forget the debates. Give them both a pogo stick and whoever goes longer is president.

Only if they both first test clean for drugs, including steroids.

I wonder why Joe Biden is afraid to debate in person.

I'm sure if Trump agrees to be tested for the virus before the debate and has two consecutive negative tests (publicly released) then Biden will be happy to debate in person.

I wonder why Trump won't follow debate rules?

I think they need to hook 'em both up to a Model T ignition coil and give them a little jolt every time they tell a porker.

I think they'd both turn into bacon, but the Republican bacon will be crisper.

What a joke America has become. Printed cash flow into the stock market will stop, on his orders to his dogs , if he loses, throwing the markets into chaos. China laughing the most at this coward who has mesmerised many Americans, even those in Government!

hard to say.  appears he's lost interest in the governing part, only going thru with the election for "winning."

i doubt the tax fraud investigations will amount to much.  he still has millions to spend on his stable of high-priced lawyers.  at 74, he can draw the case(s) out for another decade.

but he has an out now.  if the polls continue to drop, he can simply feign a relapse, and withdraw for health reasons.

........an' i would'a won, too, if it weren't for that meddlin' viris!

Spares us hours of Trump shouting all his usual lies and being his usual obnoxious bully while not following any of the debate rules so no great loss.  I WAS looking forward to him being tasered, though, every time he interrupted or went over his time limit.  Darn.

Harris made a stunning announcement during the debate. She promised to get rid of both pot convictions on the federal level, and private prisons.

The entire "war on drugs" has been an abysmal failure. There are hundreds of thousands of Americans locked up in private, for profit prisons, due to pot possessions. That is insane. She also promised to get rid of private prisons, which are a huge blemish on America. Harris schooled Pence during the debate, and all he did was recite one lie after another.

And to compound that, Trump is now having a historic meltdown, with his call into Fox yesterday. And he insists he will not participate in the next debate, as it will be virtual, which means the moderator can finally cut him off! What a blunder. Trump is, and always has been Biden's most valuable ally in the election. Just let him do his thing.

  • Popular Post

I think all of you have got it wrong.

The reason Trump will not do a live debate is of course that it will show

how sick he still is.

how long does it take a normal 74 year old to get over covid?

A few days?

He is still weak and will not be able to yell and scream for one hour straight.

It would disappoint and maybe worry his worshipers.

That is if he actually has the virus.

I would not rule out anything with him involved.

President Trump on Thursday twice referred to Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) as a "monster" following her debate performance against Vice President Pence the evening prior. Trump’s comments, made in his first interview since his coronavirus diagnosis, were made during an exchange about Biden’s fitness for office. Trump claimed that Biden “won’t be president for two months” if elected because he is not “mentally capable of being president,” before tearing into Harris.

Is Trump now totally unhinged? You be the judge. He is panicked. His numbers are dropping daily, and he is facing the greatest humiliation of his lifetime, and he is melting down before our eyes.

Trump has gone way off the deep end. Today (Oct 8 USA) was bananas. Completely removed from reality. Wants indictments against Clinton, Binden and Obama and talked about being a perfect physical specimen and that he was "really young." Lost it. Could be the steroids.

Um, because COVID-19? Who in their right mind wants to stand across from a infected contagious mouth breather yelling incessantly?

Donald, the infected patient zero, refuses to tell the American public when he last tested negative. So how is anyone supposed to believe that he will be COVID-19 negative during the next debate if he just "says so"?

Heck, we still have no idea if Donald was or wasn't contagious during the last debate as we don't know when he last tested negative!

Nah, the smart thing would be a virtual debate. Donald himself called in virtually to Fox News to complain about a virtual debate! Talk about ironic.

If a virtual presidential debate can happen in 1960, it definitely can happen in 2020. Or do you think technology goes backward?

Sounds good to me. We can just run his soundtrack from the 1st debate. He would be saying, doing the same. ""That's not acceptable to us," Trump said on a phone call with Fox Business, adding he thought the virtual format would allow the moderator to cut him off".

Quite right, IMO, to decline to do a remote debate. Who would know if a certain debater was being "assisted" with a teleprompter?

IMO neither "won" and neither "lost", but Pence certainly, IMO, was not "schooled". He wasn't the one getting flustered.

Agree, different. I understand the hope of far too many in the working middle class that he would make a positive difference for their economic interests. I do need to note, however, his personal and business history was well established for anyone having taken the time to research his background. What is better now is that much of what he has done in office is documented public record. As has been said, voting for him the first time could have been done out of ignorance. Voting for him this time takes some kind of stupid.

Biden has shown time and time again he knows his stuff. Much more reason to worry about Trump getting help.

You probably right. The deciding vote was dutifully carried out by the fly.
