Warning against Recklessness with COVID

 

 

NONTHABURI, Oct 9 (TNA) — The Bureau of General Communicable Diseases has warned people not to be reckless with the coronavirus disease 2019 that produces similar symptoms as common colds.

 

Dr Sophon Iamsirithaworn, director of the bureau, said people could easily have a cold during presently fluctuating weather conditions and symptoms of COVID-19 and common colds were very similar.

 

People should monitor their symptoms and those of others close to them.

The Thai Authorities  are only  too well aware of illegal border hoppers from Myanmar who present the very high risk of re- seeding Thailand.

Most cases asymptomatic and for months already no new fatalities. So why exactly all the hysteria, panic and paranoia in Thailand then?

Huh?  What is he attempting to say.
If you think you have a cold, maybe it's Covid?
If you think you have Covid, maybe it's a cold?

Over the last 4 month a know a lot of people in my area who have had upper respiratory infections - some more than once.  Those who go to the hospital are told it's probably a cold. I don't personally know anyone who has gone to the hospital with symptoms and come back with a story of being tested.  The message I see locally is that if you are worried about having Covid, then don't worry, it's probably a cold.

Every other country that is showing a possible second wave, is recording lower numbers than before, so working on that the second coming is not as bad as the first Thailand will have less than 59 deaths. So why the paranoia???

Tell that to the people who survived the Covid and are still suffering from the after effects, the people who are in ICU. Or who lost a family member or a friend. Or better yet, go to a hospital and stay there for one night in a Covid patient room without a mask!

Even your hoax peddling idol caught it because he didn't wear a mask.

Have you read/ saw news from other countries around the world lately? It seems that apart from Sweden, every government in the world is using the pandemic to gain extreme to total control over their citizens. Most countries go by reporting high numbers of covid sick and death, restrict travel (like Australia that won't allow its citizens to travel overseas), restrict gatherings and so on. I recently heard of at least 1 confirmed case where some one died in a traffic accident, but post mortem reveled the person was also infected by covid 19, so in the death certificate the cause of death was registered as covid 19, and of course added to the death toll of covid. 

Thailand might report lower numbers than actual due to low number of testing, but apart from closing the borders to incoming foreigners, no much restrictions locally. 

I'd say we are good, much better than many other countries

Interesting. I was not aware that Japan, where citizens quite regularly wear masks were part of the total control plan ... just sayin.

Do you live in a city or even a rural area and lock your doors at night or when you leave the house? 

I don't know the actual statistics but bet your chances of robbery or home invasion are probably less than those of getting infected or dying from this virus. 

 

So why the paranoia? 

 

Many folks have a natural aversion to death or hospitalization if minor precautions prevent it. And of course robberies are not contagious.

Yes it's complex re who does/doesn't get sick/very sick if they get the virus.

 

But why not actively/promptly work towards reducing the sickness/death rates same as working towards less deaths from road accidents.

You missed my point; I agree with you. I was saying that if you are paranoid enough to lock your doors then you should definitely be paranoid enough to protect yourself against this virus when it's a trivial effort to do so. 

 

BTW I work toward reducing the death rate, mainly mine, by being very careful when and where I travel in the Kingdom. I don't expect the road carnage to reduce anytime soon.
