I must have reported a month early for the 800K verification.

I always make note of any necessary immigration reports on my Google calendar, and today I got the reminder for the 800K being in the bank for 90 days after being granted a new Retirement extension. Problem is, I did it a month ago, which was only 60 days after the extension, but when I reported, with all the necessary paperwork, update bankbook etc, no one said a word at Immigration, even though the young officer there checked everything, including the cover letter issued by Immigration. Not sure how I got it wrong, because the date for the report was stamped on the letter from Immigration, but I obviously did.

Are you saying that Immigration sent you a reminder that your 90 day report, together with bank proof, was due? How did they remind you please?

When you do the Retirement extension they give you a letter that tells you to bring in your updated bankbook showing the 800K having been there for 90 days after the extension was granted. You have to attach photocopies of the bankbook plus passport extension stamp to that letter and return it to Immigration.

Sorry I  must have misunderstood your OP where you said that you got the reminder TODAY. You actually got the reminder on the day you got your extension, and you mis-read it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much as you have the bank book as evidence and can get a bank statement if needed. Time before last, the officer asked me if I'd made the report. That meant he had no record himself. Last time, he gave me no notice to report w/ the bank balance in 90 days. Most offices it seems don't have any such requirement. It may function as mostly an attempted useful reminder and as such isn't taken that seriously.

I got the reminder on my Google Calendar today, but the letter was given on the day the extension was approved.

Sorry, more misunderstanding on my part. So you put the reminder in your Google Calendar on the day you did your extension but actually did the 90 day report after only 60 days, ie 30 days before Mr Google reminded you?

By law you have to report after 90 days. So if you report earlier it is good for nothing - if they act according the law.

There is no requirement in law to attend immigration after 90 days to prove you still have the 800,000 baht per the retirement extension conditions. A requirement has been implemented at one or two IOs only, Jomtien being one of them.

Perhaps you confuse with 90-day address reporting.

OP. I never got that letter and hence never returned to Jomtien IO, nor wanted to as it was the height of Covid and crowding there. Now you got me concerned again.....????

He got the letter that he needs to report with the date on it...

Yes I know, but isn't it just something the IO is doing,? it is not written 'in law' as you said.

Read my post, nothing to do with 90 day report.

Did you do your extension in the normal way or through an agent? If you never got the letter I wouldn't worry about it. Have yet to hear if there are any repercussions if you just ignore the letter.

Normal way.... I will have to see come renewal day. I am not really worried, I have kept my bank balance up as required, and updated my pass-book regularly to prevent consolidated entries.

The proof that the 800K has been there for 90 days might be just done randomly, but I was given the same letter last year as well.

I understand that it has nothing at all to do with the 90 days address report. But after you got your retirement extension you need to show that you kept a balance of at least 800.000  for so many days. You can report later but not earlier. But up to you...

I believe the order ( have to retain the 800/400k) came into effect March 1st 2019 so renewals after that would be affected. As stated no order was written requiring a check 90 days into the extension or 90 days after the application. Jomtien did it, a few others joined in. I expect the rest will be checking on next application for the full prior year.

I think they had a spell where they were not bothering and then re-instated it later. I am not worried, have been doing Retirement Extensions many years now and get the feeling us old boys come under less scrutiny.

They only have to look at my Fixed Deposit account to see that the 800K hasn't moved in 7 years.

That's the whole crux of my post, that I accidentally reported a month early.

Yes, it can get confusing for some of us old duffers. 90 day report for actually being in the country, 90 days after extension to show you still have dosh in the bank, then you can use half of that money, but put it back after 7 months and keep for two months before the next extension....or is it 60 days?

So who's fault is that? Go there again next month and explain to them that you got confused with the difference between 60 and 90 days and show them your bank book again. I'm sure everything will be fine.
