Trump slams Facebook, Twitter for taking down Biden story in NY Post

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized a decision by Facebook and Twitter to limit the distribution of a story in the New York Post about Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

 

"So terrible that Facebook and Twitter took down the story of “Smoking Gun” emails related to Sleepy Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, in the @nypost," Trump wrote in a tweet.

Says honest Donald!

Poor Trump.  First his bogus "unmasking" investigation--using taxpayer money no less--and that he's been spouting about for months, found absolutely nothing.  Then his Russian propaganda on Hunter Biden is being ignored by reputable media and censored by Twitter and Facebook.  This close to the election.  But Trump needn't worry.  People are already early voting, so no point in manufacturing fake news now. 

Grasping at straws Donny. Your own GOP-led Senate Finance Committee and Senate Homeland Security Committee have gone through this and came up with nothing to back this conspiracy theory.

Putin has to be wearing a Cheshire Cat grin realizing how easily the FSB can manufacture a story and get desperate 45 and his quisling repubs to latch onto it like it's a lifeboat from the Titanic...albeit full of holes.

 

This doesn't even rise to the level of the Zinoviev Letter from the days of the Cheka, but maybe the FSB knew the bar was set so low that even a silly tale like this would find an audience. FSB or SVR must have used the JV Team for this one; the KGB was ham-fisted, but they occasionally did some good covert action and disinformation campaigns. Still, as noted, the intended audience isn't exactly sophisticated.

Reading the content of the e-mails strikes me as similar to the contrived style of a  Nigerian scam letter.How difficult would it actually be to "create" such content ?

Well, to be fair the guy who most certainly wrote it is not the brightest light in the night sky.

The Post's report said that an unidentified computer-repair-shop owner discovered the emails and other compromising material about Hunter Biden after an unidentified person dropped off a water-damaged laptop last year to be repaired but never picked it up.

The repair shop owner was later identified as John Paul Mac Isaac, an avid Trump supporter who told several reporters who tracked him down that Trump's impeachment was a "sham." Isaac also did not have a clear grasp on the timeline of events that he initially described to the Post.

Trump ordered Government agencies to undertake an investigation of the Biden’s, the outcome of which is zilch.

 

No crimes, no indictments, not anything Trump can mischaracterize as ‘dodgy’ - absolutely nothing.

 

So he gets Giuliani to send this fabricated garbage to the NY Post.

 

It plays well to the fanatics in his base but nobody else is taking this seriously.

I don't know if the Biden story is true or not. It seems until now it's unconfirmed. If Hunter did something illegal then he should be prosecuted by a court of law.

Reports by Fox News and the Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post are allowed as credible sources here, even with their well-known political leanings.

Indeed. It should be the same rules for everyone.

 

The right wing press are running amok suggesting Obama was fully aware of Biden's conflicts of interest and actions that favored his son and large payments. If there is truth in that, they should be thoroughly investigated and appropriate charges brought. 

 

But, as we see more and more, the US Justice System has become highly politicized.

 

Social media that censors the press when it doesn't like the content is a very worrying development.
