Three high-ranking police officers have been dismissed after the pro-democratic demonstrators marched to surround Government House on Wednesday.

The dismissal of Pol Maj-General Somprasong Yentuam, Pol Maj-General Prasai Jittasonthi and Pol Major Manop Sukhonthanapat was reportedly ordered by the Royal Thai Police Operations Centre on Thursday.

The centre said the order was given to Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Phukphong Phongpetra by the newly appointed National Police commander Pol General Suwat Jangyodsuk.

  • Bit confusing post there Steven, if they have been dismissed there wont be a next time for them.

  • OOPS gravy train has run into the buffers for those 3.????

  • Well, they also allowed it to rain on someone's parade and someone was probably not amused.   When the PAD occupied government house and wrecked the place ,,,, were their similar dismissals

OOPS gravy train has run into the buffers for those 3.????

Did they join the march or just show them where Government House was?

Almost a first, normally it's transferred to another post. No reason given, could they sue for unfair dismissal?

They probably won't be dismissed, more like shuffled to a lower position ....   imo

Good point well made. The 'inactive post' tends to keep the miscreants onside. Kicking them to the curb may upset more than just those being fired.

Then explain to us why in this land of perpetual movement to inactive posts, this particular event says they were dismissed?

Dismissal from a government job isn't normal as many decades of dodgy head teachers, bad cops and corrupt flunkies from state controlled entities can attest.

"dismissed after protesters take over Government House" still can't find the reason?

Pensioned off to Saffrons...

Would have been nice for the original article to say what their responsibilities were - IE why they may have been singled out?

Quite a big gap between a major-general and a major I would have thought.....

Infidels to a coup. Many more lurking.

Probably they didn't polish their shoes properly. The house containing the shuffled police must contain more police than the total actually in the police force.

Disobeyed orders from the master above.

Probably  stopped the royalists from bashing the protesters heads in. A bit of violence on the streets is good for justifying a coup.

Watched that part of the parade on tik tok. Thousands giving them the 3 fingered salute and chanting in Thai "Get out". Totally unprecedented. There's definitely a wind of change in the air.

Watched another video of the push to Government House. The police just weren't up for it. One young copper in the line was in tears. It was obvious that he wanted to be on the other side of the line. I imagine that the high ranking officers expressed the same feelings, which is why they were sacked.

This movement has real momentum now. Expect the army to be tested at the next demo. Will they feel the same?

I also saw a photo of an officer signaling the 3 finger democracy salute. And don't forget about the aunties in yellow being trucked in on dumptrucks and garbage trucks also making the salute.

As far as the dismissals go, guess somebody higher up wasn't amused...

All the lunatics in governance that god shoveled guts into need a scapegoat or three right now there is open defiance building up watches are ticking ???? ????

No mention of protesters occupying the House, only surrounding it. Whereas Suthep and his PDRC protesters did occupy government buildings with impunity.

I really doubt that, they may be the next leaders of the coup to displace this government.  My ex BIL, says that many in the RTP do not support this Government or regime, and he is a RTP PLtCol.  Sounds like a civil war is about to began to split the Nation again.  Standby folks and stay safe.  My GF almost got run over in the stampede down the BTS Skywalk by the protestors on her way home from work.

One thing is noticeable in all this and that is the relative silence of the yellow minions.

It would seem that many that were once in the yellow camp and supported Suthep have seen the fruits of their labours and realise that far from leading to any improvement in the way the country is being run , their efforts have just pushed the country to the brink of disaster and closer to just being a vassal state to China.

Hence, they now have to bus in loyal patriots from army camps.

Don´t worry! They will soon have high positions and new titles in other prominent places.

It's all being mixed up.  Yellows offering the 3 fingered salute.  Reds making big changes at the top, showing they are still a Thaksin party, and then have them sucking up to the 'institution'.

Hope it will be principles that matter, not personalities.

It seems they failed their duties and allowed the mob to get to close to the royal family outside government house

Sounds like a Big Joke story!
