webfact
Too early to predict emergency decree’s effects on economy: Arkhom By The Nation Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said on Thursday that it was too early to tell how the state of emergency will affect the economy. He added that the authorities have deemed it necessary to take control of the situation or extensive rallies could have an impact on the business sector. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared a state of emergency in Bangkok effective from 4am on Thursday to control the escalating pro-democracy protest. The premier has also reportedly called a special Cabinet meeting on Friday to review the declaration of the state of emergency. Under related laws, the declaration has to be considered within three days. Popular Post daveAustin
No effect on economy, certainly not compared with the cvid debacle and hardly worthy of SoE decree. Just reaction to loss of face and distraction from the tourism quandary, the cessation of which is causing a massive drain on the economy.

Well lets think about that...... Would an emergency decree used to sidestep any freedom of speech of the Thai citizens/students etc be seen worldwide as something to cheer? Something that would cause a positive impact on the Thai economy? Better buy a vowel if you need a clue ???? Because truthfully IMO ...other countries should impose economic sanctions already on this sorry excuse of a self proclaimed government Edited October 15, 2020 by meechai 3

I mean; it had zero effect on the protestors. Edited October 15, 2020 by rkidlad 1 1
Popular Post jonclark
Good to see the deflection has started already from the government. Only a couple of days ago Prayut and co were proclaiming the protestors had no support. Oh how the worm has turned. Prayut if you actually want to improve the economy. Get out!. "I here too".. as the protestors sung last night. As an aside I wonder if the results of the latest superpoll, as shown mcot, will make its way to tvf?? Nope. The Chinese will view this as a good little doggie doing its job well for protecting their ancient land. Business as usual for the world. Nothing new. Isn't one better to lose 20/25% of GDP (tourism) than potentially 80/90% with rampant infections .. and killing people ..??
