Popular Post webfact
Vacationers on cruise ships will be allowed to disembark in Thailand, CCSA says By The Nation Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Wednesday resolved to allow foreigners to disembark luxury cruise liners that drop anchor in Thailand, the centre’s spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said. The Tourism and Sports Ministry has said some 60 boats carrying 650 foreigners have asked for permission to enter the country. They are expected to generate revenue of up to Bt2.1 billion. The travellers will have to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine and be tested for the virus three times. If they test negative, then they will be allowed to travel across Thailand. CCSA is set to formally discuss the reduction of the quarantine period next week. It also decided on Wednesday to extend the state of emergency put in place nationwide to curb Covid-19 infections by another month to the end of November. The centre will propose its resolution to the Cabinet on October 27, he added. I doubt many cruise liners dock for over 3 weeks in the same port on their schedule - as much as I doubt rich passengers who have just spent a month on a boat will agree to 2 weeks in a locked hotel room and a few days on the beach. Just seems another daft idea out of the under 5 suggestion box 34 1

Big difference.

Big difference. You raise a valid point are they private yachts or cruise ships. I do not believe any cruise ship companies are currently operating. 8f the ships are still sailing it is only with very limited crew on them. However, I may be totally wrong and The billionaire yaht club might be on tour, but they sure as hell will not stay in an ASQ, and they definitely never stay for an extended period of time in one place.

Popular Post donnacha
Why can't the time on the cruise ship be treated as the 14-day quarantine? Presumably everyone is tested before joining a cruise and, once at sea, if no cases emerge that means the passengers are a safer bet than someone who just spent 14-days in a hotel. 3

It clearly states luxury cruise liners in the first paragraph. It must mean 650 people on each ship. ThailandRyan
Found a photo of the barge, um I mean Cruise luxury liner, and each room is a converted 50' Storage Container which has bee made into a luxury cabin. Looks like they will just need to offload and stack the Container on the docks for the quarantine period, return and re-load them for the next leg of the trans-oceanic voyage after they deliver the non passnger carrying containers and cargo....just saying. Of course they need bathrooms so they have made those as well. What a world we live in. Welcome to Thailand you world cruisers. 1

jaiyen
The biggest danger is not from cruise ships but from the hundreds of cargo ships. Here in Perth the only virus carriers we have all come from cargo ships with mainly Filipino crew. Also got a load of infected people from cruise ships a few months ago.

You added an extra place holder, your way would have Thailand estimating they would take in 20,800,000,000 Baht from 650 tourists, not the 2.1 Trillion the OP stated.
