Does anyone know if embassies and consulates in the US have been issuing non-B visas to attend scientific conferences in Thailand? What about education visas for formal (graduate) students in the US attended a conference in Thailand for education purposes?

I have contacted embassies and several consulates in the US about this but have not received any replies.

This is a separate query from my earlier post a couple days ago.

While some conferences and trade shows are continuing, an outside prospective attendee would need to be rather dedicated to go through all the prerequisite check items and mandatory 14+day quarantine to attend.

The Thai embassy in Washington DC website does not mention any category the fit you to apply for a certificate of entry.

See: https://thaiembdc.org/visas/

You could also contact one of the official consulates in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles.

The honorary consulates cannot help you at this time.

In the past, ie pre COVID-19, most foreigners I know who attended academic conferences in Thailand came on tourist visas.  Simple, no problems.

However now ....?? May I suggest that you contact the conference organisers in Thailand, and ask them.  Many coneferences have been postponed, cancelled, or made into online affairs.

Just curious which conference(s) you are considering.  All of the big cancer-related conferences that I used to attend, AACR, ASCO, SITC, have either been cancelled or moved online.  I'm asking since if it interests me I might go.  Thanks.
