Anxious U.S. voters choose between Biden, Trump after vitriolic campaign

I'm guessing the pollsters didn't take account of Trump voters telling them they were voting Biden because of the reaction Trump voters get, or they were asking the wrong people.

I don't agree. The problem was getting a representative sample to poll in the first place based on how people communicate in this era compared to the past where everyone had a land line and most would answer their phone to any incoming number.

WOW, what a frustrating morning to wake up to. Still a cliffhanger and possibly not resolved for days.

IMO the Dems regretting that they didn't put up a better candidate. IMO it's doing so badly for them BECAUSE of Biden. If he can't do better against the "worst" president ever, it says much about him personally, IMO.

They also got it wrong, according to the exit polls that I've seen, that corona was the number one issue. Corona is third according to exit polls I've heard. The economy is first.

For sure, a lot of pollsters and the guy that was correct in predictions since 1984 are sweating, as their reputations depend on a Biden win.

Win or lose they've got egged as it's far closer than they were predicting.

Interesting to see the IMO biased media trying to spin it. The BBC had the popular vote as Biden 53 % ( if I remember the figure correctly ) and Trump as 0 %.

The presenters of the radio station I listen to are IMO biased against Trump and pushing the line that Biden is winning as much as possible.

Totally agree. The democrats should have walked this election but there's not many young savey billionaires willing spend their money on a 50/50 change of becoming president.

The recount won't help him.

Again Biden us winning now.

Of course he hasn't won yet.

Yes its depressing that its so close and 45 course still win. That's a sad state of affairs considering yes 45 really is that bad.

Change that to

Of course he hasn't won yet.

That's relative.

The Latino issue was largely in Florida because Latinos are very diverse. For example Cubans more likely to buy the lie that Biden  is a communist.

You're right that the polls look worse than in.2016 so there is going to be even.less reliance on taking polls seriously going forward.

They tried but its become much harder to do them accurately.

That's a good point and I wonder with Biden being a Socialist wether the uneducated assosiate this with Communism.

I hate Trump for all he stands for (although I did have a crush on Ivana when she was in her prime ???? ) but in all honesty, he is the better of two evils. How sad is that.

Not IMO. IMO people looked at Biden and didn't like what they saw. Also it's possible he won't last 4 years.

Biden has been in congress for 47 years or something like that, and is, IMO, establishment to the core. Hardly a socialist.

IMO he's exactly what the people that vote Trump don't "like".

IMO that's a position that a huge number of those that voted for Trump take. They saw two bad candidates and voted for the least bad, in their opinion.

According to the exit pollsters voters supported Biden because they were voting against Trump, not because they liked Biden.

The US establishment now had TWO unpopular candidates, and they should be looking to understand why better people don't stand for the position.

I'm pretty sure she was in a Playboy article many years ago when married to Trump, or maybe Penthouse. She was in his private jet. Not, to my recollection a centerfold or nude.

Biden isn't a socialist either but like most democrats believes in a bigger role in government for things like access to health care. The people calling the democrats communist will still usually like programs like social security.

You  can't have it both ways. If Biden lost in Florida because the Republicans successfully painted him a communist to enough Latinos imagine how they would have slaughtered openly socialist Sanders or further left Warren.

That said a more vital younger moderate democrat like Pete Buttigeig might have won the country more definitively.

Biden was much more personally liked than Hillary Clinton so you're wrong to say this race had the same dynamics of 2016.

I never said Biden lost because painted a communist.

If you want to talk about that don't quote me.

I said people didn't like him.

Within 1% according to Politico so can go for recount.

Which even the republican governor there says won't change the result.

45 wants to stop the counting in places he's winning and do extra counting in places that he lost.

He's a horrible hypocrite and desperate as well.

He so deserves to lose this.

But he hasn't yet won or lost.

Recount wont get him 20,000 votes. Maybe 20. But he cant take that action until they formally declare the result which may take a week or so.

Which means that the result may not be known for weeks. Not a good situation, but I can't see Trump going out quietly.

If he succeeds in winning, it's worth it, IMO.

Just heard Biden talking on radio as if he has won already. Politico disagrees.

I fear that Biden will squeak in, and we will suffer the consequences, but I've always believed that things these days get worse for the common man, not better.

I say that not because I think Biden is going to be doing anything too bad as I don't think he'll be president for the duration, but I can't post my opinion of Harris.

Be careful what you wish for.

No! He didn't say that he had won already.

He said that he is confident that when the votes are counted that he will win.

That confidence is well founded.

You can carry on with your strange project fear about what a President Biden or Harris will do but with a republican controlled senate either one will be greatly limited.
