webfact Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Scourge of PM2.5 returns to Greater Bangkok By The Nation Air pollution has returned Bangkok and its vicinity, with 71 air-quality stations across the capital showing readings of 27 to 52 micrograms of PM2.5 dust particles per cubic meter of air. Fine dust particles smaller than 2.5 micrometres in diameter or PM2.5 can be easily inhaled and be hazardous to health. According to IQAir.com, as of 8.50am on Monday, Bangkok ranked 23 globally with its air quality index logging in at 116. Meanwhile, as per Air4Thai.com, pollution in Bangkok’s Nong Khaem district has exceeded safe limits, while air pollution in Mae Charoen Road and Petchkasem Soi 8 has reached unhealthy levels. Residents in these areas have been warned not to conduct outdoor activities and follow pollution reports closely. hotchilli Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Done nothing to curb the noxious vehicle pollution, done nothing to stop the construction contamination, done nothing to stop industrial pollution, don't expect the figures to get any better. 1 1
CLW Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Every year the same but no action: Flood, drought, burning, pollution, Songkran road deaths, New Year road deaths. It slowly gets boring...
richard_smith237 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 (edited) AirVisual shows that Bangkok is up to about ±90 AQI - which is in the moderate level and close to becoming ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’... The visibility in Bangkok seems pretty decent today though. Today Bangkok’s AQI of 90 is slightly higher than Lyon (France at 81 AQI) and New York (at 74 AQI), Berlin (at 70 AQI). Certainly not enough to warrant the ‘alarmist headline’ however, its air-pollution nonetheless and anything which can be done to improve the air quality, should be done.
