Bang Pong Pang police and rescue services were called after a motorcyclist messenger was killed on Rama 3 Road near the end of Soi 40 in Yanawa district yesterday afternoon.

Chorp, 40, from Chachoengsao fell off his PCX under the back wheel of a cement mixer. He was wearing a helmet but his head was crushed.

It happened in an area where there are road repairs and where there are eight six meter long, half a meter wide, concrete slabs covering a large hole. The road surface is uneven.

The cement mixer driver Somphop, 33, said he was making a delivery and driving as normal in the far left lane when he noticed two motorcycles in his rear view mirror come close together. One went under his rear right wheel, he was unable to brake in time.

Suriya, 39, said he is a food delivery driver and was taking fried chicken to a customer.  He was also hurt on both hands. He came off first then the following motorcycle also took a tumble though he claimed they had not collided.

That rider was the one that ended up under the wheels of the cement mixer.

Police are investigating by interviewing the rider and cement mixer driver again and looking at witness statements.

A friend of mine was on his motorbike when he was pushed into the path of an oncoming truck by one of those fast-merging-but-never-looking motorbikes that zoomed out in front of him. He was declared dead at the scene.

Although the accident was witnessed (that's how we know hat happened), the police didn't make any effort to track down either the negligent biker or the truck, both of whom didn't stop.

Yep just what you want when you're on a bike...

It's the other motorcycles which cause so many of the problems.

Yesterday a Motorcycle pulled out from a side soi (turning right) in front of me... Didn’t even look, a hard brake and swerve.

I hit the horn and shouted at her when we were level - she looked at me as if she had no idea what she’d done. Utter total and complete Fv<kwittery...

I’ve seen motorcycles simply change lanes and side swipe straight into another motorcycle - idiots.

In this case, it definitely seems as though the road surface was a contributing factor, however, at least one of the motorcyclists caused the other to take avoiding action and swerve on the uneven surface.

Another unnecessary death and avoidable if they weren’t trying to do something silly by squeezing through traffic when the road surface was highly irregular.

Sorry to read that...

One of the major issues I have with the lack of enforcement here is how it enables the continued awful standards and allows innocents to be placed in danger for the simple reason that everyone knows there is no accountability.

The consequences are tragic because policing does not present consequences.

I give cement mixers a wide birth on the road, they have priority due to size.

My pet hate currently is cars or motorbikes on Sukhumvit that don't bother indicating or braking when about to turn left, they just take foot/hand off the gas and drift left slowing down with no brake lights

Rama 3 Rd has become a lunar surface for a couple of years due to the never ending MEA construction (below surface area). They are preparing for moving the power lines below surface and the tards have to do this in the middle of the road (and not at the pavement side). I curse the time and the day every time I drive my car over those temporary covers they put in place to cover the huge holes. I see drivers on bikes trying to keep it straight while going over these, it was a matter of time for bad things to happen ????
