Follow the tour buses from Mochit terminal?  They go one of two routes that meet up at Nakhon Nayok anyway.

#1, from Bangkok head north on the Tollway past Don Muang and Rangsit on up to Hin Kong, then off the main highway and around to Hwy 33 towards Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Kabin Buri, Sakeo, and on into Aran.

#2, from Bangkok head north on the Tollway past Don Muang but get off at the toll booth, baht 10 charge here, left lanes, and down on to Pholyotin towards Rangsit.  At Rangsit, take the signs off to the left and around to the east on Hwy 305 towards Thanyaburi, Ongkarak, and Nakhon Nayok where you'll join up with Hwy 33 and on to Aran.

BTW, if you take this latter route, wave as you pass Klong 10 on Hwy 305, that's where I live, some 23 km east from Rangsit.

Actually probably not a lot of difference between the two routes, about 3-3.5 hrs either way.  All sort of depends on where you live in the Bangkok area.

Some folks who live out Chang Wattana way prefer to take Hwy 304, Chang Wattana to Ram Intra to Min Buri, then on out to Chachoensao then Hwy 319 via Phnom Sarakham to Kabin Buri, turn right, and you're on Hwy 33 on to Aran.

Another way if you live down lower Sukumvit way is to take Rt 9 which feeds into the Motorway to Chon Buri, but turn off at Hwy 304 at Ban Pakong, up to Chachoensao, the right on to Hwy 319.

Lots of options.

Take Motorway to hiway 317 towards Chachoengsao. Turn right on hiway 304 (also 319, I think) towards Phanom Sarakham. Just past Phanom Sarakham take hiway 359 to hiway 317, turn left and hit hiway 33 just ouside Sa Kaeo. This misses most of hiway 33 which can be a real mess. hiway 359 opened about 5 years ago but is just starting to show up on maps.

I can make it to Sa Kaeo in 2.5 hours from Sathorn area using this route. My driver can do it in less than 2 (he is much braver than me).

thank you,

please could you tell me what direction i exit bangkok on the motorway, is it the rangsit way???

Timo

edit by myself: it is obviously not the motorway to rangsit, the problem is i cant find the highway 317, there is the highway 314 towards chachoengsao, the rest i see, 319 towards Phanom Sarakrahm, then the 304 and then finally back on the A1 to sakeaw and aran, right?

one more questins, the motorway exiting bangkok, is that the one rama 9, srinakarin way?

regards and thanks alot

It is indeed 314 off the motorway, my mistake. It is the worst part of the drive, but thankfully the shortest.

Yes, depending on where you start from you go out of bangkok on the rama 9/srinakarin expressway, the one that goes by airport. Since I live near Sathorn, I go south on the expressway and get on the Bangna-Trat elevated and cut over the motorway can't remember the exit number or name, but it is signed as a way over to the motorway.

Good luck, I have never gone on to Aranyaprathet, just to Sa Kaeo.

If youre in Pattanakarn Rd,the quickest way is probably along SriNakarin and turn left onto Bangna-Trat.Continue along Bangna-Trat until you get to the turn off for Chachoengsao (304) and turn left. From here SaKaeo and Aranya Prathet are well signposted.

Without any doubts, if you live in Srinakarin, use the motorway and follow istructions given bu thaihome. It'll take you less than 2 hours (1.5h when you'll know the way). Just 2 main jonctions to handle correctly. Rest of the way is quite straight forward. A brand new road financed by UN and you'll understand you're on the right road noticing the number of Banz you'll pass.

At Poipet broder, a large car park area, safe and not so expensive. Free car park if you get your ticket stamped at some of the casinos (need to play at least 5000b to get it stamped).

Have fun
