xtrnuno41
Big companies, greedy "humans" controlling everything. And it is everywhere. It is called business. Not only Thailand with rice. See South America , banana, cacao, coffee beans. Even USA. Saw docu, farmer with big fields of strawberries. There was too much, so price got down. Farmer decided to let the plants and strawberries rot, as this was for him the cheapest way. Otherwise he had to pay for his own crops, to sell. Negative income. Definitely something wrong with the global systems today.

Average rice yield in Thailand is 450 kg per rai. We get far less - all organic, no fertiliser. First field was 8 sacks one rai ????. Only farmed for the government subsidy, not the rice. We have a great irrigation system in Kanchanaburi though so get 3 crops a year. 4 crops are possible if you start preparing the paddy as soon as you have cropped but that is rare to be honest.
