webfact
Cabinet okays Bt152-billion scheme to boost economy By The Nation Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri The Cabinet on Monday gave the green light to projects aiming to revive the economy in the fallout of Covid-19 outbreak, government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said. Up to Bt152 billion has been earmarked for the effort, of which Bt16.46 billion will be spent on creating jobs and upskilling or reskilling workers, much like the Labour Ministry’s project of supporting the recruitment of new graduates. Another Bt45 billion will be set aside for projects aiming to strengthen grassroots economy, while Bt30 billion will be spent on stimulating local consumption. The remainder, he said, will be poured into infrastructure development. This spending is expected to boost the gross domestic product by 0.2 per cent this year and 0.25 per cent next year. It is also expected to maintain or create 310,000 new jobs, upskill 160,000 workers, generate revenue for some 100,000 vendors and inject an additional Bt60 billion into the economy. If these job opportunities were not there when the economy was more vibrant, how are they going to be created now ? With the figures quoted, all this looks like it will create bigger bank balances for the dinosaurs, before their fall from grace, leaving the country in even heavier debt for their successors.
RichardColeman
Every time I read about all this mad money I keep thinking of the Labour party note to the Tories about there being no money left for the next government

welshguy
I could have sworn I read, that a few weeks ago, there was some sort of "jobs fair", in Bangkok, where they were saying there was an enormous amount of jobs going? Wasnt it something like 1,000,000 jobs or some thing like that? Now they are going to "create/maintain 310,000 extra jobs plus upskilling many many more.....The future is looking good then. Of course, it would be great..............if this money was able to generate everything they are proposing.......!

Popular Post colinneil
Just another hairy fairy idea, all that will happen is infrastructure schemes will be decimated by greedy individuals, grabbing every baht they can, leaving little money to be used on the actual project..
