The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Saturday reported five new cases, including a domestic patient.

The domestic case was reportedly a Thai woman, 29, who had come back from Myanmar. Her case was found in Chiang Mai province, and the infected person is currently being treated in Nakornping Hospital in the province. She had suspected symptoms such as anosmia, headache and diarrhoea, since November 23.

The other cases in quarantine included an Indian man, 27, and Indian woman, 31, who were both asymptomatic, and two Thai men, aged 24 and 34, who had returned from the Philippines and Sweden.

The total number of confirmed cases in Thailand has risen to 3,966 (1,004 in state quarantine), 111 are in hospital, 3,798 have recovered and been discharged and 60 people have died.

According to Worldometer, as of 10am on Friday, the total number of confirmed cases worldwide since the outbreak rose to 61.98 million (up by 612,825), 42.78 million have recovered, 19.2 million are active cases (105,224 in severe condition) and 1.44 million have died (up by 10,814).

Thailand ranks 151st for most cases in the world, while the US tops the list with 13.45 million, followed by India 9.35 million, Brazil 6.23 million, Russia 2.21 million and France 2.19 million.

So this 'domestic case'... when did she come back from Burma?

I have also heard the Central Festival Mall in Chiang Mai has been closed to be sterilized and cleansed as she had visited there.

Probably 3 months ago - so they can extend this 'cash cow' quarantine to 90 days

Currently there are several different versions of this news, we will have to see which one is correct.

In one news she met with an illegal immigrant from Myanmar on 21st, then after this went to Central, the hostess bar and so on.

Then there are other news which say that the infected Thai woman came back from Myanmar on 24th.

A graphic from the ministry of public health classifies her as a Covid case coming from abroad and not as a local one, but why wasn't she in quarantine then?

According to details from the CCD:

On Nov 24, she still had a fever, and developed a cough and a headache. Around 5am on that day, she travelled from Myanmar to Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai by public van.

Of the 326 people who came in contact with the woman, 105 were deemed at high risk of infection and 149 low risk. Officials said 72 people were in close contact with her.

Thai social media reports she also bar-fined a lad for company on her pub run.

As she did not quarantine she is said to have entered Thailand "illegally".

Don't bother worrying. The contacts will test negative and we will never hear about it again. Can not risk damaging Thailand's virtuous image.

Is there any Covid Testing actually taking place in Thailand, Just askin
