PM orders reinforced border security to prevent illegal crossings

BANGKOK (NNT) - The PM has ordered reinforcement of border security to prevent illegal entries, as the COVID-19 situation in neighbouring countries is getting out of control.

The government’s deputy spokesperson, Traisulee Traisaranakul, disclosed today that PM General Prayut Chan-O-Cha had ordered every governor especially in provinces that share a border with a neighbouring country to prevent illegal entries. Security departments and residents are also required to cooperate with each other to report any suspicious activities, after illegal workers were found to have been smuggled into the country, causing deep concern of COVID-19 infections.

Miss Traisulee added that the PM also stressed that the Police department and Immigration must strictly enforce the law, given the negative effect on the public if smugglers successfully enter the kingdom. If any officials are found to have supported illegal entries, they will be prosecuted without exception. The punishment that will be applied to such officers is to ensure public confidence that the officers are extra careful and the public is safe, as no one can overlook the crime of smuggling.

The PM also lauded the efforts of officials in all sectors including local security, public health, the police department, soldiers and volunteers for their hard work since early this year.

The hard work has paid off as Thailand is set to maintain a very low infection rate.

He should have ordered this over 6 years ago, when he got himself to the position where he is, albeit unelected, even prior to any viruses.

Like the PM NEED to tell security forces to guard the borders as if without telling them they wouldn't have figured that out for themselves being soldiers who suppose to protect the kingdom...

Such an important message delivered by a deputy spokesperson  surely such a lowly person should only be used when the general orders a pizza ????

Maybe they could buy some more containers from Maersk. They seem to be effective.

Laughable; the Border leaks like a Cullender from top to bottom, would be rather like trying to plug the hole in the Titanic !

fast reading the heading I thought they were increasing border security to prevent illegal invasion, my mistake 555

Duh! What are the soldiers doing with their time, if not protecting the borders? Why is Thailand spending billions on their army, if they cannot keep the borders secure? In this time of Covid, is that not a priority? Please, show us some competency in something. Anything.

Oh, no. Those containers are to protect the elite. Protecting the peasants from covid is very low down the ‘to do list’.

I can not stop laughing at the stupidity of the PM.  The statement of smugglers having a negative effect on the public is just more blatant BS.  Time to admit Mr. PM that you do not, have never had, nor will ever have control of your people, no matter what type of stupid policies and laws you put in place.  Time to resign and let someone run the country who has the respect of the masses and can obtain the trust of the people.

If any officials? really, you know that corruption runs rife in your Government and you have lead it.  Stop feeding at the trough and give the people back the country.

Once again Prayut is showing how pathetic he is, reinforced borders,????

He is definately havin a laff, just think about the border between Thailand and Myanmar, hundreds of kilometers where anyone can just stroll across at will.

Seems a little out of character for the army. Are'nt they tasked with protecting the wealth of the elite?

Probably not a good move to bring all the Border Police to Bangkok?

These "smugglers" are usually Thai agents whose only thought is MONEY and not public health!!

My source of reference is a rival news media which I cannot quote from.

too late

Yet AGAIN a PM of a country Having to issue orders to authorities to do the job they get paid for, just the other day he did it about the up-coming drought, Now to police boarder control, why doesn't he just order everyone to do there JOB correctly or not get paid and sacked. Pathetic little man trying to do a job he has no qualifications to do, apart from giving orders.
