Yesterday I started to clean up my hard disk and tried to remove unused programs using "Add or remove programs". When I opened the dialogue box I noticed that there were 3 versions of Microsoft Office XP:

Microsoft Office XP Professional 211 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage 278 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Microsoft Office XP Standard 173 MB Last used 3/11 2005

Can I delete 2 of the programs and free up hard disk space or should I just leave them? If I delete 2 of the entries will the registry be affected in anyway thus stopping me from using Microsoft Office.

Also I find it strange that the "Last used date" is 3/11 2005 because I use Microsoft Word and Excell almost daily.

Incidentally the same applies for a Java update. I have "J2SE Runtime environment 5.0 Update 2 " and "J2SE Runtime environment 5.0 Update 5". Can I remove Update 2 without problems?

Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't fiddle with the JRE updates, as they are probably crucial for the program to run. It does, however, look like you have 3 versions of Office installed. Kind of weird. I'd just un-install them all, and then re-install to get a nice clean installation on your PC. It's not really that much of a hassle anyway.
