Pictures or it never... etc., etc..

true .. every under the table business must have a front façade to hide the real intent.

the shop catered for the non gambler. but why would Myamar build a major large gambling complex right across Chiang Saen.. it is not for the people who wants to buy  silk or other things.

you can find all that stuff in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai..

There is nothing so special selling it in Chiang Saen or make a special trip to buy in Chiang Saen.

I have been to Chiang Saen many times.. only to enjoy a good fish lunch at the few restaurant on the river. Never bought anything there.

Sorry. I lived in Mae Sai for many year when they still had the one lane each way to the border. The border police have their own rules.

Selfish and irresponsible of those who worked there and illegally came back and especially the greedy Thai, Myanmar, and Chinese investors who owned and operated that Covid Superspreading Hotel/Brothel and made the choice to kept it open during a major virus outbreak.  And of the customers who went there to party too.

The investors should named, shamed, and held responsible.  It all started with them.

Isn't it somehow naive to expect that all people will follow COVID rules and regulations by themselves? And there is not much that can be done. You can punish some but you can't stop such a behavior completely.

FUNNY..how do you punish a sex worker.?

1.fine..she can afford to pay her Bht10k

1.take her to a room and whip her for fun while having sex.

2. allow her to have more customer for punishments'  and don't pay her

3. or use her.. me first then all of you suckers later.

Haha.. these sex workers will go back to the casino. How will they pay for their expensive lifestyle.. shopping, eating out ... one way is to use what they got bewteen their leg...Go work for the expensive massage parlor in Bangkok and infect the big Thai VIP government people..

best solution .....get them well and send them back to Takielek.

the casino will take them back....again

Correct, the clientele are wealthy Chinese, and Thais.

So does this mean that high ranking thais are frequenting the casino along with wealthy Chinese that have been allowed in to Myanmar.

This would mean that Mr Plod and customs and immigration both sides are involved, I think the enlightened one will be forced to post a few Generals down south shortly.

The management of the 1G1-7 Hotel, which is located in Tachileik just 1.5 kilometres from the official border checkpoint at Mae Sai, said it employed 180 Thai women.

The National News Bureau of Thailand on Friday reported that 84 of the women have returned to Thailand, mostly via illegal natural crossings along the porous border. Many of the women are understood to have skipped the mandatory quarantine procedures for anyone entering Thailand

Oooop's Mr Anutin fancy that, your own country women letting you down.
Lets hope some of the ViP's and elite generals in Myanmar are now super spreaders like their entertainment girls... maybe the Myanmar elite will fall.

That's belittling 5yr old's :cheesy:

Many a true word ... at the recent Elephant Roundup fair, my 5 year old daughter and her 5 year old cousin went on a self drive 3 wheel motor bike ride. It dawned on me then what the development age is for a Thai motorcyclist.

I wish I were joking but everything I see every time I drive here was being done by these 5 year olds!

It is one of the mysteries of the pandemic that apparently no member of the CCP or senior Chinese military seems to have been infected. Apologies if that's off topic.

Waiting to hear of the new cases as they appear.  However, I fear that the positives will just dissapear into thin air, which makes no sense when in other countries just a visit at a wedding or in a bar has caused a massive outbreak, but then again TIT, and maybe everyone that has come into contact with these people have already a built in immunity from having it last year to some extent.  With that said, I find that very improbable as this is supposedly a new mutation of the Covid -19 virus and is supposedly more infectious.  Still planning my trip to Chiang Mai, in a day or so, have not canceled anything as of yet as I was waiting to see what this Government does but, As Anutin has said there will be no new lockdowns or anything new in the provinces as it is all under control.  Hmmm.

Agreed.  I am much amused by Anutin's words about selfish Thais just a few months after his remarks about dirty foreigners.

After rice, prostitution is Thailand's biggest earner. There is a reason this Hi-so brothel is situated so close to the border - because many of the clients are Hi-so Thais.

Then the local officials who know this illegal route is open have a lot to answer for.

Prayut who has thousands of soldiers at his disposal could easily have shut the door on this happening... but only sees students as a threat... well now you may just have found another one..

If 80+ have sneaked back in and looks like they have a high infection rate then it's about to get interesting in the north west.

It must be bad in that hotel for them to leave a very well paid job to come back here to nothing.

Must be down to Ventilator sex with the old fat generals from Yangon.

Yes.. Thailand unbelievable good luck dodging the brunt of the Covid pandemic is about to come to an end it seems and specially now in the holidays season where every one is traveling to the north and the northeast, god saves us all, and whoever let let happen should be held responsible...

Responsibility rests with the individuals crossing followed by the Border Patrol forces tasked with policing the borders.

It unfortunately is the Governments own doing. They have continuously never found Covid cases amongst the contacts they traced. Thus making Thai's believe they are invincible.  However, all this has caused is apathy and complacency.

Remember earlier in the year when a single Egyptian military type, on a sanctioned visit and who was allowed to avoid quarantine, almost shut down Rayong and caused widespread panic?

Now a host of Thai sex workers who ran the border from Tachileik and have dispersed throughout Thailand don't seem to result in the same level of panic. Has Thailand gotten Covid fatigue?

There was no infection spike after the Egyptian visit, and there was free testing in the areas where he had ventured. One wonders if Thailand will retain the same degree of luck this time. Let's see where we are in two weeks.

Of course these women were caught. The border has been as porous since the virus first arose, and Thailand never suffered any major spike, so it might avoid it this time, too. If there is a difference between now and back in, say, April, is that the virus has taken a much greater hold in neighboring Myanmar.

Even the countries like US cannot stop illegals crossing their natural borders during the Covid time. There is no way a third world country like Thailand can completely secure its border.

It's much worse in other countries. Teenagers in the UK going to rave parties breaking the law. People sneaking out of home quarantine and riots in many other countries against the restrictions.

And people just do not see the porous borders, leaving the airport on public transport and then claiming to be in voluntary self isolation while sitting in the pub.

Only Thailand gets it wrong.

Thailand has the invisible Covid Buddhist wall that protects all of the Thais who wear amulets, have Buddha statues in there cars and houses from getting the Virus.  Obviously those Thai's that are now infected were not devout Buddhists and were full of sin, sorry but I guess I just lumped the supposed business lady who caught it after a 1 hour flight on Nok air into the mix.  I mean how else can you explain it, especially with the countries surrounding it having many cases, well reported cases that is.
