I spoke to the Longstay Company that many media outlets were referring to. They got back to me, said that there is no official government ordinance yet for the STV and they are waiting on both that and a policy to be set on which countries will be allowed to come to Thailand on this particular visa.

So it looks like none of this is official yet, and the media may have jumped the gun by announcing it without all the details a few weeks ago. The embassies look to be preparing their websites for it, but they're probably waiting on the details as well I'd imagine.

I applied 2 weeks ago to London embassy for 'at the time' an STV , it was postal only as london embassy was in lockdown, and i live on the island of Jersey.

passport got returned yesterday, on its lonesome, no returned paperwork,  no barcoded coe receipt, and declaration form, not returned. But i had a Single entry TR visa stamp inside, full page.

So you thought you'd applied for a STV but actually got a TR visa? 3 months total with extensions rather than 9 months? What are you panning to do about that? Challenge it anywhere or just accept it?

Probably get a deal at the Sofitel to sit it out going by previous posts.

It is certainly official since it now appears on most embassy websites.

When uk embassy first went into lockdown(mid late Nov) i was applying for STV, had to go thru Ministry website in bkk, which at the time , was not prepared to handle london embassys business properly, and visas named,  the STV visa was not on the website, but during me sending it to embassy and getting it back,,i  was given a TR visa ehrn it returned, I dont really care what visa gets me in, i can get it changed when im there after 3 months, no biggie, dont see the problem.

Regarding Sofitel, no FTF does not take 24 hrs, and sofitel have told me their FTF is valid, until i get there i'll see,, but worse case im reading on here and FB u can do the ftf online in 1 hr... again i dont see your problem.

it seems the 2 weeks that my passport was with the london embassy, the rules changed and STV visa were a no no , and single entry TR seemed to be the NEW issue...all i can assume. I don't see your point of digging holes in the sofitel scenario, it helps alot of people (like me in jersey, who has no pcr tests ioption, on island over new year.  im sure theres others that may have to get to london before flying to bkk. sometimes the best logistics for each person is more costly, i get it, but it's an option (to share).

What is going on with this STV, why the delay? anyone getting updates from their countries embassy on STV? I am in America and still waiting on the online application to update with the addition of STV. I see that Singapore website has the price listed as $100 SGD.
