Woman injured as restaurant gas cylinder sets power pole on fire

PHUKET: A cook at a small restaurant in Koh Kaew escaped with minor injuries yesterday (Dec 13) after a hose from a cooking gas cylinder came loose and set on fire the kiosk where she was cooking – and set alight a nearby power pole that was starting to shower sparks.

(Reuters) - Englishman Lee Westwood was crowned Europe's number one golfer for the third time in his career with a second-placed finish on Sunday behind compatriot Matthew Fitzpatrick, who won the European Tour's season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

PHUKET: Residents at the Baan Ua Athorn government housing estate in Moo1 Srisoonthorn were in for a surprise as a two-metre-long king cobra was found in the parking lot on Saturday (Dec 12).

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hackers believed to be working for Russia have been monitoring internal email traffic at the U.S. Treasury and Commerce departments, according to people familiar with the matter, adding they feared the hacks uncovered so far may be the tip of the iceberg.

27 returnees, one hospital personnel test positive for Covid-19

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported 27 new cases in quarantine facilities and a local transmission in Bangkok over a 24-hour period on Monday.

 

Most of the cases are travellers, both Thai and foreign, from overseas who are completing their mandatory quarantine in Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Chonburi.

Why hold on to the old Pattaya nightlife scene when the new emerging one looks so good?

Whenever I post anything in any way connected with the Pattaya nightlife scene – such as Walking Street – there is a polarisation of opinions. The same goes for when writing about how Pattaya may re-emerge after the International borders reopen, some say it will return to normal and others say it will be different.

Over Bt42-bn exchanges hands under ‘Let’s Go Halves’ scheme

The government’s “Khon La Khrueng” (Let’s Go Halves) shopping subsidy has reportedly circulated more than Bt42 billion in the economy, while the Finance Ministry has confirmed that Phase 2 of the project will kick off within this week.

Students escape tragedy by the skin of their teeth after driver falls asleep

A group of students from the Chiang Mai Rajabhat University were nearly killed in a road accident on Monday morning after the driver of their van fell asleep and crashed into a roadside tree at 6am.
