Cash payment baht or £

Sounds as if using cash it will have to be Baht at current exchange rate from my reading - but not from UK so no real knowledge.

Consular fees are set in Pounds Sterling (GBP). They are payable in the currency circulating at the place of payment, except that consular officers have discretion to accept, in lieu of such currency, a cheque, money order, or other means to pay in terms of that currency.

I remember 3 years ago paying for an embassy letter regardng my income that cost £52, and I paid from my UK bank - transfer.

That was about 10% cheaper than paying baht.

When you talk about 52 quid for a letter , then it is a bit ironic to use the word "cheaper" anywhere.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. You can pay for the service in cash but we only accept Thai Baht.

And do you set the exchange rate much higher that it is on that particular day
