Because people need it, and more. Why wasnt trump involved and say he agreed with the dems?

Will you be disappointed when he approves it?

I would be disappointed if he approves it yes. Not so much about the amount of the stimulus checks.

The bigger problem is all the other foreign aid and special interests that has nothing to do with COVID relief for Americans.

Thanks for your fine argument too.

Why should Trump NOT toss this to the garbage?

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. You react to a post/topic saying 'garbage'. This is a discussion forum, therefor arguments should be presented. Is it too much, too little, not enough porkies attached, not enough to businesses, too many or not enough checks, etc.

Foreign aid is a tiny part of the bill. But tax breaks for big business are indeed substantial. Why not specifically focus on them for a change?

'Let's do it!': Schumer, Pelosi say they are eager to pass $2,000 stimulus checks that Trump says he supports

Democrats say they are eager to pass $2,000 stimulus checks - Business Insider

I'm sure all Trump supporters will be enthusiasticall supporting Schumer and Pelosi in their efforts to accommodate Trump. And condemning all the Republicans who are opposed to Trump's proposal.

Trump is trying his best.

I know, that's the frightening part, I hate to see what kind of Sh*# he would come up if he was not trying his best.

Why stop at $4,000 why not $8.000 or $10.000 .It's not like he is going to pay for it

And where was he when the negotiating was going on? Lots of people are in a very bad way now. They need money fast. Why did Trump wait until now?

Whether Trump vetoes the $900 billion stimulus package and/or the $1.4 trillion (?) government spending package for FY21 is irrelevant. More than two-thirds of Congress passed the bills, effectively making it veto-proof. Worst case, the bill goes into effect Jan 03, 2021.

Unless some Republicans back down. Given that a majority of Republican members of the House  signed on to support Texas' ridiculous case before the Supreme Court, who knows how they'll vote after a veto?

Will they still support the bill after a Trump veto? I think many voted yes due to the WH indicating they would support the bill. Now many will be afraid of Trump and might vote no. That is if he really vetoes.

Political suicide comes to mind.

Trump's surprise demand for $2,000 stimulus checks blew up Mitch McConnell's master plan and leaves him in a no-win situation

  • Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is under pressure after President Donald Trump called for larger stimulus checks.
  • McConnell has for months led Republican efforts to limit spending in a COVID-19 stimulus package.
  • After lawmakers reached a hard-fought compromise this week, Trump undermined his own party by calling for $2,000 checks instead of $600 ones.

Lose-lose for McConnell as Trump, Dems support $2,000 stimulus checks - Business Insider

Thank you, President Trump!
