Nobody will be travelling at least for another year..just look around the world and see what a train wreck this pandemic is causing right now!UK..what a disaster..US..even worse..Europe(Germany,Italy ,Spain and now Sweden)..South Korea..reeling from a spike in outbreaks in the last two weeks! All I can say is these vaccines had better deliver what's on the label otherwise I shudder to think what lies ahead in 2021 for many!

Yeah it all depends when the majority has been vaccinated.

Here in Denmark the health authorities assume that by summer 2021 most adults Danes would have had the chance for their shots, but unless that apply for the countries we want to travel to, it probably won't matter anyway.

I still hope for a summer trip to Samui, but I'm not counting on it.

It all depends what kind of hoops Thailand will have in place even for vaccinated people.

This is certainly a departure from what the Minister was saying back in August. The deputy PM, who also holds the Energy portfolio, announced then the formation of a new economic panel, and boasted that the new economic committee will boost tourism and employment. He said the panel agreed to increase subsidies for local tourists and create 1 million jobs in the near future to combat growing unemployment.

A U-turn a day keeps the doctor away, and when all you've got is a hammer, it's helpful to pretend that everything is a nail.

Gawd help us all and preserve us all from the Thai pooyay, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and you don't get much littler than this shower.

Incorrect. While it is true statistically that the Chinese are the biggest spenders when it come to worldwide travel, those Chinese rarely come to Thailand. Those wealthier Chinese spenders want quality, great service, fair prices on luxury goods and wine and top end F & B service. They demand it, and Thailand rarely offers it.

So, the general overall model does not apply.

Incorrect. You're being presumptuous about the demographics and habits of Chinese travelers. The wealthy and well traveled will probably check out Thailand at least once or twice, and choose to spend their time in high end luxury resorts and malls, which absolutely deliver on service. These same people probably also have the means to travel to Europe and North America and often do. Like the rest of us, they travel to see as much of the world as possible, both developing and developed countries alike. They don't only travel to America or Europe and avoid Thailand and other SE Asian countries just because they're not fully developed. That is nonsense. Besides, Thailand offers a completely different product than Europe or North America: beaches, warm weather, exotic sights and culture, as well as food. That's why Chinese come. They visit Europe and North America for different reasons, the weather and beaches rarely being one of them.

Obviously I doubt you've ever stayed at a 5-star hotel. Nor do you realize luxury goods are still cheaper in Thailand than they are in China. And they're also buying made in Thailand goods like durian, dried fruits, Naraya handbags and all sorts of things. Even though they may not be "super luxury" but even wealthy travelers are interested in the local culture and souvenirs.
