The Supreme court has rejected a final chance to appeal against a life sentence for Laotian drug kingpin Xaysana Keopimpha.

The 44 year old had sought to appeal his life sentence that was handed down in 2019 after a death sentence was commuted.

The appeal court earlier rejected his case and with the supreme court decision Xaysana has no further recourse.

He will spend the rest of his days behind bars.

He was convicted for conspiring with others to import 1.2 million Ya Ba (methamphetamine mixed with caffeine) pills in the roof of a car that crossed the Thai Lao Friendship bridge to Nong Khai in September 2016.

He was arrested after arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport from Phuket in January of 2017 and has been in custody ever since as the court processes were exhausted.

Far from being a one time importer of drugs, Xaysana has been described as a major player in the meth trade, notes Thaivisa.
