Did you make a police report on the govt? Or did you aide and abet.

  • Trump just wants to use "pocket veto" neither sign nor veto. He can gum up with that process for  10 days, 10 days of attention on him, which is always his #1 goal. Congress will have to wait til arou

If he truly does owe 100 million in taxes, he should pay up.  Not fair for all the others who pay taxes.  Fair is fair.

This is a typical example of biased media reporting.  They tie the losing jobless benefits to Trump not wanting to sign the bill.  They ignore the fact that he asked them to increase the benefit going to U.S.A. taxpayers from $600 to $2,000 and to remove the pork from the bill.  One of the really awful things about how the USA passes bills is that Congress can pass a bill for a cause that is popular and then pin totally unrelated spending and pet projects to it forcing congress to either pass it with the wasteful spending projects attached or reject the bill in its entirety.  Here are just a few of the examples of the spending included in what was labeled as a Stimulus Bill.

he nonprofit government watchdog OpenTheBooks.com said, “Christmas came early for Washington,” and listed “just a few examples of taxpayer abuse” in the bill, including:

• $10 million for "gender programs" in Pakistan

• $40 million for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts;

• $10 billion to loan forgiveness to the United States Post Office;

• $14 billion for mass transit programs, $10 billion for state highways, and $1 billion for Amtrak;

• $15 billion for live entertainment venues, cultural institutions, and independent movie theaters; and

• $82 billion to K-12 schools and $23 billion to colleges and universities.

Now whether those are worthwhile is subject to everyone's opinion however they certainly are not part of a "stimulus" and should be voted on based on their own merit.

If the headline read, Donald Trump demands congress eliminate wasteful spending in the stimulus package in order to provide funds to increase direct checks from $600 to $2000 it would give an entirely different impression than the headline that jobless benefits were running out and Donald Trump refuses to sign aid bill.  Calling a bill an aid bill, stimulus package, or relief is just namesmithing.  The important part is where the spending is going not what the bill is called.

Plus a big chunk of those porks came in at Trump's request.

Look, the chap has obviously had a road to Damascus conversion. You can imagine the score - blinding flash of lightning from the heavens, Trump falls of his horse ( well golf buggy), deep baritone voice from the cloud " Donald, Donald, sin no more, pick yourself up and follow my way..."

These expenses are not part of the covid bill.

For practical reasons,  there are two bills in the same package: a covid relief bill and a regular omnibus bill. What you list is part of the omnibus bill which was voted at the same time as the covid relief bill.

Social media mixes up COVID relief, omnibus bills

"On Dec. 21, lawmakers in both chambers of Congress passed a $2.3 trillion spending package: a roughly $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill — consisting of 12 different bills to fund the government during fiscal year 2021 — and a separate, approximately $900 billion bill specifically for COVID-19 relief. Lawmakers also passed several other smaller bills"

As for the $2000 check, it's the Republicans who reject it (you know, Trumps party)

No, no one should understand it because it's not true. If it were true, there would be no national debt.

And that 'redistribution of wealth' is socialism, no matter how you cut it.   I always find it interesting how people like to change the definition of things when it suits them.

MAGA has FAILED SPECTACULARLY and now millions are unemployed, no money, in debt, getting sick, filling up ICUs across the nation and hoping the POTUS will throw them a crumb from the crust of bread....while he literally plays golf. I want to know how any of you MAGAnese can actually defend this??? How is this making American great? Trump sucks and you SUCK for going along with it this long.

Isn't the obvious solution amending one of these acts with a big tax cut for billionaires?  That should incentivize it enough for Trump to sign it.

Republican Rep Says Pelosi Stuffed Bill With 'Pork,' Hindering GOP Support for $2,000 Checks

Republican Colorado Congressman Ken Buck claimed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi packed the COVID-19 relief bill with "pork," hampering GOP backing for $2,000 stimulus payments rather than $600.

"Nancy Pelosi gave the members of the House just a few hours to read six thousand pages of legislation, she did that because she had stuffed this bill full of pork," Buck said on Fox & Friends on Saturday.

The congressman noted the COVID relief bill included funding for two new women's history museums, social engineering programs in Pakistan, and a panel to examine a succession to the Dalai Lama.

The bill was passed by the house and the senate.  Blame this one on Trump, not Pelosi.  Sure, it was stuffed with 'Pork'.  Done so by both parties and is a common practice.  In the end, one person is holding this up.

Congress is broken and needs to be fixed.  Desperately.  Both parties are terrible.

Much more believable is the fact that Peter King, a Republican and staunch supporter of Trump, says those foreign aid items came from the White House.

Most of the so called 'pork' programs, including funding for women's rights efforts in Pakistan which trump objects to had funding allocated in trump's 2021 budget. For months trump had briefings from Mnuchin yet did nothing. trump has yet again left a member of his team deeply compromised and embarrassed for attempted political self gain with his base.

You're confusing exchange rates with inflation.

Maybe, But while the official inflation rate has not gone up much the cost of things in the USA is rising fast! The cost of housing and about everything relating to housing is going up like crazy! I'm in that business there. The exchange rate has dropped a lot in the last few years and looks like it will continue to to so? With the huge deficit spending in the USA I expect it to continue.

Perhaps one could agree that it is entirely detached from reality, somewhat like the present incumbent of the office of President of The United States?
