BANGKOK (NNT) - Many provinces have reinstated COVID-19 precautionary protocols for travelers during this New Year holiday, when many people are expected to visit their hometowns or make a trip somewhere. Passengers at bus stations are now being screened for symptoms before being allowed to travel.

Ahead of the expected passenger surge later this week, Khon Kaen Bus Station 2 has installed COVID-19 passenger screening stations manned by staff members around the clock, to detect any passengers arriving from other provinces with suspicious symptoms; they will immediately be required to quarantine.

Similarly in Bueng Kan, local authorities have prepared the processing of travelers expected to arrive during the New Year holidays, with an emphasis on disease screening and investigation of all travelers from at-risk areas, with an immediate hospitalization protocol for travelers who have a fever or any suspicious symptoms.

The province is encouraging all passengers to strictly comply with COVID-19 preventative measures, by always wearing a mask onboard throughout their journey, cleaning their hands frequently, practicing social distancing, and checking-in on the Thai Chana platform. Transport carriers should ensure the preparedness of the vehicles, with proper cabin disinfection, and a temperature check of drivers and service staff before each service.

New Year is one of the holiday periods where the highest number of domestic jouneys is usually recorded. That number this year is expected to be significantly hampered due to COVID-19.

In Yala, schools in the province still open as usual, however with extra health and safety measures implemented to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Students are required to wear a face covering, pass through a body temperature checkpoint, clean their hands, and step on a tray of disinfectant before entering the campus. Alcohol hand sanitizers are provided in front of each classroom, while seating has been rearranged for better social distancing.

Information regarding self-prevention measures against COVID-19 are constantly promoted by schools to their students to help maintain an awareness.

I don't know which provinces are raising Covid -19 protocol checks as I have been traveling around the South (Krabi, Phan Nga Trang) and did see any special checks, I did see a couple of some people wearing uniforms (could be local police/helpers) sitting under a tent playing with their mobile phones,  maybe there for road safety rather then Covid 19 checks..... same same but no different
