(Reuters) -Fireworks soared into the sky above the Sydney Opera House, but the harbour below was a deserted ghost town, a fittingly creepy send-off for a year that will not be missed.

(Reuters) - Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been suspended for three games and fined 100,000 pounds ($136,590) after he admitted a Football Association (FA) charge for using a racial term, the soccer governing body said on Thursday.

Road accidents claim 186 lives in first 3 days of New Year holidays

PHUKET: Phuket began the New Year with zero deaths on the roads overnight, and concluded the third day of the Seven Days of Danger road-safety campaign for the New Year (Dec 31) with zero deaths since the campaign began at midnight on Monday night.
