The Digital Economy and Society Ministry has warned people not to believe or share news and Internet posts that claim eating Japanese mountain yams in ginger water will help prevent Covid-19 infection.

“The ministry’s Anti-Fake News Centre contacted the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine and the Ministry of Public Health to verify this information and was told that there was no concrete evidence to substantiate the claim that the potion could help immumise against the new coronavirus.

“Dioscorea japonica, or Japanese mountain yams, in yellow colour are high in beta-carotene, which helps improve eyesight and the immunity system, while those in purple colour are high in anthocyanin, an antioxidant that could help prevent the occurrence of cancer,” said the department.

“Meanwhile, ginger could help relive heartburns, colic and in some cases improve appetite. They are both good for your health but cannot immunise against Covid-19.”

Would it be too mischievous to report the entire Department of Thai Traditional & Alternative Medicine to the anti-fake-news center ?

Surely, there can’t be many countries with such a government department.

Perhaps, if they were not given credibility under a government umbrella, people wouldn’t believe this nonsense and such press releases would not be required !

china also has such governmental department, including hospitals run according to traditional medicine. Possible the other asian countries have similar.

In thailand they do promote massage - teaching courses and educational materials, certification, research.

Also fitotherapy, they have selected some 50 herbs.

The last weak they suggested one thai herb might be working for covid. There might be more natural products, food supplements for covid - research is done worldwide.

But I do agree their work is on a very poor level.

Possibly, if it was not japanese but thai yam they would OK it.

Financing of their work depends by how many statements they make, to be expected in the health ministry run by some mafioso

rubbing Wode all over yourself?

Curiosity got the better of me so I googled wode.

As a noun it is madness or insanity

Woad, on the other hand, is a plant which is used for it's blue dye.

In the context of this article perhaps the former is the more accurate.

Did someone call Donald for some financial backing.  His bleach did not work either.

Good Luck Thailand, I hope you all get the vaccine soon and then take the next year,

with masks and social distancing to let the populations around the world at least get 50 percent

vaccinated to have a bit of control over this virus.    Oh and do not buy your dose over the internet

for a self poke. You may not get the genuine product.  I am releasing this valuable information

as there are some people who may not think of the scammers out there.

Geezer
