Sophon Cable TV went to investigate at the Mahachon Market in Nong Prue after a trader there called Chollarat, 52, told them CCTV had caught a thief stealing her things.

Chollarat - better known in the area as Jae Lek - said that on Tuesday a 35-40 year old Thai man had turned up at her stall in the back of the market expressing an interest in buying many sacks of tamarind. He bargained down the price and told her he'd be back the next day.

After work yesterday afternoon Jae Lek got a call from another trader to ask if she had sent an employee to get goods.

She hadn't, and CCTV revealed that the man from the previous day had returned to cart off sacks of tamarind, dried chili, onions and garlic from her stall.

She has reported the theft to the Bang Lamung police.

They will try to find a CCTV that was working at the relevant time and the culprit will be traced to his mother's house. Job done.
