Commerce Chamber suggests urgent COVID-19 responses

BANGKOK (NNT) - The private sector has proposed three approaches to the new wave of COVID-19 infections, factoring in illegal labor and the need to separate those infected from others.

Chairman of the Board of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Klin Sarasin, proposed the urgent measures, suggesting a joint public-private committee be set up with representation from affected areas so as to conceptualize long term solutions and deployment of manpower and resources. Such collaboration would also lead to “Single Message” announcements that would maintain public confidence and understanding.

The second suggestion was to quickly authorize an effective rapid test for use by operators with the ability to carry out such tests on their own workforce. He said Samut Sakhon business owners were probably able to rapid test their employees, but would need financial aid from the state or tax measures.

The third approach was to issue tax incentives for businesses to inoculate their foreign work force once a vaccine is available in Thailand.

The chairman lauded the government’s call for public use of the Mor Chana application as it will allow better tracking of people at risk while reducing paper work, but said citizens without smart phones should be able to use other methods. He assured the government the private sector is ready to work with the state to rehabilitate the economy.

Yes, form a joint public-private committee to conceptualize long term solutions and deployment of manpower and resources.

Whatever it is, it sounds jolly impressive and is certain to baffle any virus.

Soooo businessmen not only want scarce vaccine diverted away from high priority targets (health workers, elderly etc) to vaccinate their workforce, but they also want the government to subsidise it??
