Thai PM says larger 2022 budget deficit won't impact coronavirus response

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha on Monday said that the larger government deficit in next year's budget would not affect the country's efforts to manage the spread and economic fallout of the coronavirus.

Two suspected Covid cases detected aboard Thai Navy flagship

Two cases of suspected Covid-19 have been discovered aboard the Royal Thai Navy’s flagship aircraft carrier, HTMS Chakri Naruebet. The suspected cases are among a 500-strong crew manning the carrier, which is docked at Sattahip naval base in Chonburi.

Household debt in Thailand highest in 12 years

COVID-19 can be blamed for pushing Thai household debt to its highest level in 12 years, around 480,000 baht per household, said The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo have tested positive for COVID-19 after exhibiting symptoms of the disease, California's governor said on Monday, in what is believed to be the first known transmission of the virus to apes.
