webfact
17 more need treatment after apparent use of “K powdered milk” drug cocktail Seventeen people have required medical treatment after suspected use of the “K powdered milk” drug cocktail during the past two days. Four of them were admitted to the Boromarajonani National Drug Addiction and Princess Mother National Institute on Drug Abuse Treatment (PMNIDAT) due to the severity of their condition. Dr. Sarayuth Boonchaipanichwattana, the institute’s director, said that four were admitted for treatment, while the rest were discharged after being given medication, but their urine samples were collected for analysis. The results are expected in 3-5 days. He explained that not every patient could be admitted for treatment, to make sure that there is room in the institute for those who need medical care the most. onebir
K powdered milk = "ketamine, methamphetamine, heroin and a sedative" apparently. What are they thinking...?

What are they thinking...? Exactly! Ketamine and heroin on their own are already bad enough to kill you easily, then you add sleeping pills on top of that, plus meth?! It’s insane!

Local drug lords, and their masters, have an over-supply of Ketamine, so they want to monetize it ASAP. Obviously killing customers is not viable long term, so time to rejigger the mix. Stargeezr
Drug users who use these kind of drugs are crazy. Now many of them will likely die from this new mix. I just wonder how many more people feel they have to take drugs to have fun, or what ever reason they use to take their drugs? Geezer
connda
Calling this powdered milk is appalling media sensationalism. Highly irresponsible.

It's not the media that gave the concoction the name. I think it's appropriate for the media to repeat that given name so that when potential users hear of it on the streets, they might make the connection with the risk because they heard about "powdered milk deaths." What are they thinking...? Would have been nice if the OP article had actually explained what the heck the K milk they were talking about is... Or, perhaps, because this is Thailand, anyone ever using the term "K" should automatically know and understand that they're talking about ketamine. rwill
Large ketamine bust. Later said not to be ketamine. Now a large supply of ketamine on the streets....

ronaldo0
I’m going to say has fentanyl in it . Most likely cause of so many deaths unless the heroin was very high grade , but at price it was selling for I doubt it .
sharksy
Maybe the kids didn't know it was a cocktail of different drugs?
