Rice to be distributed to 4,034 hard-hit families in Phuket

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Government and the Phuket Red Cross have launched an initiative to distribute free rice to more than 4,000 households across the island that are home to families hard-hit by the ongoing economic crisis.

Pollution hits unhealthy levels in 11 areas of Bangkok, its vicinity

Air pollution in 11 areas in Bangkok and its vicinity hit unsafe levels on Friday morning with PM2.5 readings coming in at 44 to 111 micrograms per cubic metre (μg/m3), the Pollution Control Department reported.

In honour of Teacher’s Day, here are 70 photos of cute Thai teachers

 

Thailand honours its teachers on 16th January every year by giving them a day off in recognition of  their hard work throughout the year.

 

While this year falls on a Saturday and what with COVID-19 and online learning perhaps meaning that teachers miss out on their day’s holiday, Thaivisa would like to honour all the teachers in Thailand, who for the most part work long hours for little pay.

188 new Covid-19 cases reported, including 13 caught sneaking across border

JAKARTA (Reuters) - A powerful earthquake killed at least 35 people and injured hundreds on Indonesia's island of Sulawesi on Friday, trapping several under rubble and unleashing dozens of aftershocks as authorities warned of more quakes that could trigger a tsunami.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's central bank said on Friday it might cut its growth forecast for this year in response to a recent coronavirus outbreak, although the impact on economic activity has been less than the first wave of infections.

Britain denies wanting to reduce workers' rights post-Brexit

Patong drug raid leads to four arrests
