Customers of the Thai bank Siam Commercial this morning received an SMS warning about online fraud and links to fake websites.

It read:

"Warning! Criminals claiming to be with SCB or agencies have been sending messages via SMS, Line, social media and email containing links to fake websites. DO NOT provide any information. SCB never requests personal information via above channels".

Thaivisa notes that many SCB customers were targeted recently in such scams and the bank promised to upgrade its security.

The warning came around 11 am Monday.

Had the same notification from the Krungsri bank, seems that there is a massive fraud campaign in progress, targeting major Thai banks.

P.S. had no such notifications from the Krung Thai bank.

upgrading from Windows 95 might be a good start ????

Are you talking about at the bank?  Here in Thailand it wouldn't surprise me.
I know out local hospital still uses Win98 in a networked configuration attached to the Internet.  That simply blows my mind, but there ya have it.

Don't want to spoil the good mood, but it has nothing to do with the banks IT.

Maybe worth to read and understand the problem?

It's a simple PEBCAK.

In this context better known as pishing/fishing attempts.

SCB Business Net hasn't been updated for 11 years. It's like a 9th grader's weekend IT project.

German banks run Cobol programs with parts from the 1970s.

Seniors are called to the desk to maintain.

Cobol programmers desperately wanted
